Finisterra is a name the ancient Romans used when referring to Portugal: the end of the known world. Roasted flavors dark enough to stain your clothes.

Tap at Luppolo Station in Rome. Dark coffee bean color, medium nutty foam. Nose: cherry chocolate, alcohol, olive. Mouth: uh, not a pleasant feel. Unbalanced, alcohol, raw.

Svart öl med ett nedelstort brunt skum. Doft och snak av choklad, kaffe, mörka bär och lätta lakritstoner.

Bottle. Redish brown almost black, big dimishing brown head. Aroma is roasted dark malt, sweet coffee and cacao. Flavor is similar, licorice, herbal, salty, dark roasted finish.

bottle from @Taboada, thanks, black with a nice fine brown head. aroma and tast of coffee, some laurel, liqorice, salmiak, dark chocolate, roasted and toasted malts, lovely malty backbone, some milkchocolate, lactose, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, umami, cream, custard, coffee, roasted and toasted malts, pretty nice actually, above average body.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2018 1) Bottle, Boheme, Faro, October 2016. Shiny crow pitch moussed hugely with tan. Bouquet of strawberry cheesecake, bacon, strawberry creams, discreet plummy Belgian yeast (?) and US hop. Black coffee citrus, raisiny bitter cocoa, chargrilled bell pepper, dark sticky molasses-like fruit and burnt puffed rice and blueberry mingling discreetly with the incinerated bitterness. Glossy and rich with a brazen contemporary twist. So, so far beyond any Portuguese beer taken to date: sardine-beater it most certainly isn't. 2) Bottle at home, March 2017. Glossy pitch with a fat hissing tan bathfoam head. Wild yeasty aroma with blackcurrant, a rub of horse, lush tropical hop, liquorice, molasses, root beer spice. My, this is a good stout; BIPA-like blackcurrant and burnt lemon peel hops swirling amidst a fizzy glossy black soup of liquorice, black chocolate and charred black bread. Balanced lingering smoke finish. Top stuff. 848417.

330 ml. bottle @ Lisbeer. Black, mocha head. Nose is low plastic but also good sweet coffee, cacao, chocolate. Very thick lovely basic herbal, sweet coffee, cacao, low umami, grain, almost soy sauce, quite tasty. Nice work especially coming out of Portugal.

Taboada (1647) - Compostela (Galiza), SPAIN - DEC 4, 2017
Draft, sample. Tasted on the 24/11/2017 at the source in Lisboa. Pitch black colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of intense roasted malts, liquorice, toffee and dark chocolate. Taste is ashes, roasted malts, some dark fruit and wood. Aftertaste is medium dry on the palate. Next one please!

A satanic cumulonimbus head, dark and black as hell. Tastes really good, very rich and powerful. Drink by a roaring fire on an Atlantic beach in November. Excellent toasty flavour.
