Biroholik (5397) - Sosnowiec, Poland, POLAND - DEC 3, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 3, 2018 Alkohol: 11% obj. Kolor: Czarny, nieprzejrzysty. Piana: Brązowa, drobno ziarnista piana, pękająca do dużych oczek. Troszeczkę ciemnych słodów, przypieczonego chleba, karmelu, gorzkiej czwkolady i kawy. Beczka po bourbonie? No cóż bardziej zbutwiała dębina i drewno okopcone na ognisku. Smak: Masakra... Dwa kieliszki i miałem ochotę wylać resztę do zlewu... Wysycenie: Niskie. Tyle w temacie...

22 oz. bottle from Gretchen - thanks again! Shared with my wife's family after some good news. Tried alongside 10 and XX. Pours a deep, dark, not quite opaque brown with amber edges and a small tan head that settles into a ring. Notes of charred oak and warming bourbon, toasted brown sugar, vanilla, roasted marshmallows, roasted malts, and a coffee-like roast. Light-medium bodied, with modest carbonation and a sweet, smooth, warming, roasty mouthfeel. Of the three, this one didn't have a characteristic that popped out like the others did - chocolate for 19 and the barrel for XX. It was probably my least favorite, but by a hair, and it was closer to XX than 19.

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of delicious bourbon, vanilla, caramel fudge, chocolate, malt and some oak. Taste of rich full bourbon, milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, oak and a delicious long finish. Fantastic. Love this.

Thnx to david S ! Big expectations here ! Pours black, unclear, trough its darkness. Small ring of off white head. Smell is full, roasty, sweet, some oak. Bourbon ? Medium intensity. Taste is sharp, intense roastyness, mild bitterness, oak, mild bourbon ? Quite syrupy. very well, just as about any other beer they made to date.

From 650 ml bottle shared with friends. Black color with small beige head. Malty roasted aroma, dark dried fruits, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, coffee, licorice, coconut, wood, bourbon-alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Full silky oily to creamy body with soft carbonation.

Bottle [from trade with mista, thanks!] @ home. Opaque black color, medium sized brown to dark brown colored head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, heavy bourbon, dark raisins. Lovely aroma. Taste malts, bourbon, dark and roasted malts lightly, roasted malt bitterness and some alcohol bitterness. Flavor imo is not nearly as good as the aroma. Still a nice beer but I'm not convinced (as in: not a huge fan this time as I have had previous CW Anniversary beers which were awesome and this is ok to solid so a little less good than I had hoped for). A bit thinner bodied than I had expected, carbonation is suitable to the beer. All things considered, decent to solid but bit as impressive as some of the anniversary beers in the past have been.

Pour almost jet black with a reddish hue, and as good as no head. Aroma has soo much bourbon chewy goodness to it, vanilla, oak, bourbon, molasses, licorice. Pretty darn deep and complex. Taste is super sweet, but sure is well balanced. A touch of booze/heat to this monster. Full bodied, with a surprisingly lively carbonation. What a monster - as with all their anniversary stouts that I’ve had. Jeez.
