A Unique Dry-Hopped Sweet Tart Sour Mash Ale

We soured the wort on the Hot Side with Lactobacillus for a few days and then brewed up this smooth and hoppy sour. It tastes like a big bowl of fruity candy or some chewable flavored vitamins, but what’s the difference? It’s sweet, tart, and sassy, just like the tasty cherry pie that your favorite aunt makes. For all the Aunt Sally’s out there, You know who you are...

You remember it like it was yesterday. The beer flowed like music. The music was all that mattered. What mattered most was that nothing else mattered at all and the world outside fell away as a dream disappears upon waking, ephemeral and vaporous. You cradled her in your hand, lips trembling, her citrus suchness a swarm of expectation in your mind, her carbonate beauty as satisfying as it was overwhelming. You were new to this dance but she was not. Taking her in completely she seized your senses and you were consumed by the luminous passion, her residual sweetness, and the tart earthiness of her grin... This brew is dedicated to the real Aunt Sally. You know who you are. And you know why.

Ordentligt med syra! Otroligt frisk och smakrik. En öl som sticker ut! Inte för alla och alla tillfällen - men när det är rätt så är den toppen!

Pretty unique. Big dry-hopped nose has a good profile, citrus, flowers, tropical fruit. Flavor focused more on the sour, semi-sweet malts (so more sour than sweet really) with floral hops skirting the edges, lighter bitterness at the finish. Weird but enjoyable.

Bottle at Len in Kyoto. Tart nose, (Mosaic hops?), and a bit weedy. Medium old color, nice fluffy white head. Tropical fruit initial flavor, some mango, and thick citrus. Some stone fruit in the mix, along with moderate sourness.. Medium body (in fact, a bit chewy). Very pleasant.

Bottle at the Studio. Bright amber-brown with caramel on the nose. Faint sour notes blend into a chewy lacto-farmy quality. The earthy bitterness clashes a little with the funky yeast.

refreshing. Sour and fruity with some hopping to create a sparkling and crispy brew. A yum yum in my tum tum!

This was a shared or joint tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. It poured gold with a white head. Nose is fruit and citrus, along some tartness. Earth too. Body is medium. Mouthfeel is DRY Flavor is complex, with citrus, sour fruit, apple, berries, and a long lingering sourness. There is a some pine in the finish and did I mention this is dry. And earthy. And sweet. And tart. Very unique and interesting beer and good drinking.

12 oz. bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat after having a few Aunt Sally jokes. This beer is clear and golden. Just a little white foam remains after a minute or so. An interesting aroma that is full of berries, fruit, sugar, and wild notes. First sip is berries, and raspberries at that in particular. But a hint of vinegar and funk. Granny Smith apples popped in along with some spiciness. Aunt Sally is an interesting gal.

This shouldn’t work, but Laug did something special. Sharp and lingering sour, slow and sticky hops. Hops fade on aftertaste bc it’s amazing you can taste then at all. Aroma is somehow muted. A great palate wrecker

Taster - nose is citrus and tropical fruit. Sip adds funk and hay/straw. Can dig it.

pleasantly surprised about how tasty and altogether great this brew is. sour and tangy yet not very sour and gratefully not fruity and sour. more rot gut whiskey sour now that combined with the really nice pine makes for something special. tangy and a little sticky i like it just slightly cool. almost a session sipper. demonstrative indeed and a must try on the road to aficionado-dom.
