COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique seasonal product is the world’s only Trappist bock ale. Brewed exclusively with natural ingredients, this ale post-ferments slightly in its bottle. It has a deep red colour, an intensely rich taste, and a malty aroma. Aromatic hop varieties and types of burnt malt render this ale its delicate bitterness that blends surprisingly well with its slightly sweet undertone.

La Trappe Bock has 7% ABV.

Figs, plums, biscuit, caramel, a lot of malty and nutty notes that add a salty aftertaste. This is my first bock of this type and I am already a big fan.

75cl bottle from Sandersput, Ninove. Thanks to Anke! Pours hazy dark brown with a huge, lasting, frothy, tan head; irregular lacing. Aroma of plum jam, raisin, fig, pistachio, chestnut, tea leaves, (sour)dough, red apple, faint lemon. It tastes light fruity sweet, balancing apple & plum, yeasty with a sour touch of raisin & lemon, hint of dough; and light to medium herbal bitter with a nutty edge. Dryish, bit tart, herbal hoppy finish, lingering plum, bread, lemon. Medium to full body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Rejoice, autumn is here!

DraftPours23 (913) - FRANCE - SEP 6, 2018

bilcho1 (636) - Ruse, BULGARIA - AUG 29, 2018
330ml bottle from Metro, drunk overlooking the Sea Garden, Burgas on a warm summer afternoon. Pours hazy with a thick froth-and-mousse, beige head that retained well, massive lacing, no visible rising carbonation. Dark brown in colour. Aromas of burnt toast, bitter burnt caramel, molasses and beetroot, with hints of estery fruit. In the mouth, burnt bitterness from the first sip, slight underlying sweetness, flavours broadly similar to the aromas, slight astringency and alcohol presence, very slight sourness, thin to medium texture before a short, slightly sweet but strongly bitter finish leaving a bittersweet aftertaste. Overall, perhaps too strong on burnt bitterness, but unusual, complex and quite special.
