UriahHeep (231) - Georgia, USA - JUN 29, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2020 12 oz. bottle. When I saw the price of a 4-pack I admit I was skeptical at first. But Founders has rarely if ever disappointed me and in the summer heat a fresh IPA seemed promising. Turns out this is one hell of an IPA. Deep burnt orange pour with dense foamy crown. Visible sediment floating within. Aroma is a sweet caramelized malt blast with fruity notes of citrus, pine and some melon. The expected hop avalanche shined through in full force, but what surprised me with this one is the amazing malt sweetness profile that steals the spotlight. Toasted biscuit and caramel stand up to the powerful, smooth wet hops this brew boasts about. Palate is not too heavy or cloying. A nearly perfect IPA all things considered. Ranks up there with Dogfish Head 90 Minute and Stone Ruination in my holy grail of IPAs.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2020 Golden amber pour with light bubbly head. Really nice on the nose...citrus, a little pine resin, light, fresh. More hop bitter pine in the taste, which is quickly mellowed by the solid malt body. Light body, nice carbonation. Really nice ale, I think it's great.

MaltOne (555) - Wisconsin, USA - JAN 3, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2020 Pours medium amber gold - slightly hazy - brief fizzy white head, receding to ample lacing around the edges. Citrus, biscuit aroma. A lot of body, juicy. Taste citrus - orange and pith dryness with a substantial toasted malt backdrop. Just as the hop/bitter starts to peak, the malt/biscuit emerges to mellow it. It's a nice effect.

commonmac (1826) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 23, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2019 12oz bottle shared by commonshawn. Large snifter glass. Golden orange with an aggressive full finger head. Nose is dank and resiny. Aromatic floral and pine notes. The taste obviously places a heavy emphasis on hops. Mouthfeel is oily and resiny. Really good bitterness with a malty backbone coming into play nicely. Finish leans into the bitter notes but rounds out really well. Very good effort.

tfontana (2672) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 19, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2019 Bottle pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is clear, light brown/dark yellow, no sparkle, 1/2-finger width off-white head, foamy/fizzy, fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is west coast danky citrus bitter, with milder herb on the cannabis side, and candied sugar. Taste is dank, resiny herbal bitter with sweet citrus and sugary balance. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not bad, but was hoping for wet hop juicy citrus/fruit vs. strong danky bitter. I guess it was just the wrong wet hop.

Aurelius (6492) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 4, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2019 Squat, embossed brown bottle, bad label. Clear, citrine pour, one finger egg creme head that sticks to the glass. Nice aroma - toffee, hops are well brewed, light vanilla notes. Very clean mouthfeel/flavor combo. The body is nougatty, like the middle of a Milky Way. Moderate acidity up front, balance is superb - not overly hoppy/sweet/bitter. Mild fruitiness, slightly warming. A good pint. ABC Liquors, Bull Run.
