CacheManyHose (1358) - HONG KONG - MAR 14, 2020UPDATED: MAR 14, 2020 Draught at His Dog Friday in Tekapo, the first night of our NZ honeymoon after hiking the Hooker Valley Track in Mt Cook! Pours a translucent orange-copper with a creamy beautiful foamy white head and light spotty lacing. Aroma: light to moderate malt, crisp but a bit biscuity/maple syrup, lightly pepper. Body is crisp, lightly malty and faint pepper/lager.
kiwianer (4102) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 2, 2013The head is good, the body brown-orange. It smells hoparomatic, malty, fruity. The taste is hoppy, refreshing, bit creamy-malty, hopintensive, aromatic, very nice! 3.8
floydian1 (1941) - FNQ, Australia, - JUN 22, 2013Bottle (500ml, BB end July ’13). A dark amber beer with average off head head. Caramel, tangerines, lychee, grapefruit, pines on the nose. Excellent balance of malts and hops on the tongue with medium bodied oily palate.. A superior APA that goes down very easily.
DylansDad (844) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 5, 2013Only 3.7? The score is dragged down a tad by the aroma and appearance. The aroma was good but very subdued, I had to really search for it. But in the end, for me, the taste and palate are what really counts. This beer really started opening up as it warmed and by the end I was really wishing I had another bottle. I love a creamy, oily mouth feel and this beer delivers that along with Bill Wyman on Malt and Mick Taylor on Hops. Dig.
AndreasJaeger (505) - Malmö, SWEDEN - FEB 17, 2013Mörk orange i färgen, vitt skum. Doftar karamellmalt, gräs, humle, citrus och tropisk frukt. Smakar karamellmalt, tropisk frukt, gräs, citrus. Lätt bitter, fruktig avslutning. Bra balans.
omega (899) - NEW ZEALAND - FEB 9, 2013Not the typical hop monster that APA’s in this country have been following. Much more subdued on the palate than some other APA, but still hold true to form. Nicely balanced.
ShaneJ (917) - AUSTRALIA - FEB 1, 2013Bottle from Slowbeer. One of the nicer APAs I’ve had. Well balanced hops/malt, another great beer from Emerson’s.
Cantabrian (1211) - Christchurch NZ, now Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - NOV 13, 2012Not sure if this is faithful to the style, but this beer has restored my faith in APAs. Dark cooper with a considerable white head, it smells of hops, but the nice ones, with tones of grapes, grapefruits and oranges. Flavour is rather delicate, but the same fruits over the subtle maltiness and just a grapey sweetness. The palate is oily, and one can feel even when you touch the beer with your fingers. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Brenhophead (696) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 11, 2012500mL bottle. Pours deep copper with a small white head and a grassy/toffee aroma. Nice toffee sweetness balances the citrus hops. Not bad but not overly unique either.
hawthorne00 (7607) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 20, 2012Bottle, Caulfield Cellars. Amber with a large off-white head. Aroma of nectarine, grapefruit, pine, biscuit. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation, slightly chewy. Sweetish with peach and biscuit, zesty citrus, less pine than suggested in the aroma, some pepper at the end. Modest bitterness - I would have liked just a little more. But a fine beer.
