Olde Deuteronomy is a beer that is high in alcohol, full-bodied, and has a "chewy" maltiness. Because it improves with age, it is called a barley wine. Olde Deuteronomy is truly a beer to be shared with friends and should be sipped out of a brandy snifter. Each vintage will age and improve for several more years.
ABV varies from 10.2% to 11.5%. 26.4°

Gerbeer (5007) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 12, 2018
330 ml bottle. 2017 vintage. Pours a deep mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of brown sugar/toffe, sweet malts, and sugary raisins. Flavors of bitter metallic caramel, burnt sugar, sweet bready malts, and trail mix. OK. Could still age...

Bottle at the April Fools Day DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a dark red color with a small light tan head. Aroma was light boozy sweet malts, caramel notes. Flavor was very malty. Lots of malty grains. light herbal notes. Not too bad.

From a bottle at the RB DC tasting on April Fool’s Day 2017 -- thanks to solidfunk. Pours a clear light mahogany with a tan head. Flavors of caramel and toffee.

Jow (4779) - Winter Garden, Florida, USA - JAN 26, 2017
Bottle from solidfunk many thanks. Ruby brown pour. Nose is caramel and red fruit. Tastes of red fruits berry and plum, vegetal, caramel, chocolate malt, tobacco. Pretty sweet and boozy. Nice this time o season.

YigSvartka (304) - Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 25, 2016
Opaque dark mohagany hue with a meager sized and quickly dissipating beige head. Electrifyingly pleasant aroma that consists of alcohol, caramel malt, dried berries, dates, and of course red wine. An expectedly robust texture with a vast depth and smooth cream like tactility. And finally to suit the intensive aroma and body, the taste contains alcohol, red wine, dried fruit with berries and grapes in particular, as well as caramel, vanilla, and perhaps cinnamon. Wonderfully vigorous.

ljthiessen (1692) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 8, 2016
Bottle. Deep reddish brown pour with a small, light tan head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel, honey, raisin, a little bready, hides the ABV nicely. Taste is a little more boozy, brown sugar, caramel, subtle dark fruits, a little bready as well, finishes with some nice bitterness to balance. A pretty flavourful and balanced barleywine.

fiery1 (2897) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 24, 2016
341ml 2016 bottle. Rich toffee, raisins and dried fruit. Boozy heat and sweet.

biirusaikou (2704) - - JUN 22, 2016
Sampled at Mechazilla’s epic insanity tasting session. 2011 vintage. Rich toffee, raisin and dried fruit, quite estery, can feel the alcohol heat too on the sweetish finish. A tad boozy maybe but still an impressive 5 year aged barley wine.

willisread (5575) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 6, 2016
Bottle shared at Mechazilla event. Thanks Tim! 2011 vintage I believe. Caramel, aged musty notes with some apricot and oak. Soft and full-bodied with brown sugar, and a quality like a heavier campari as it warm, light vanilla. A great sipper.

Camons (16136) - Hasselager, DENMARK - APR 23, 2016
Bottle @ Home. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of rich malt, caramel, cocoa, sweet dried dark fruit, alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet, rich malty, caramel, bready, dark fruit, raisin, alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol.. 230416
