BenL8 (1827) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 24, 2019UPDATED: MAR 24, 2019 440 ml can shared with my gf. Pours thick and black with a fine head - looks like an imperial stout. Aroma is spot on black IPA. Chocolate malt and light roasty notes are net by herbal hoppiness. Some chocolate, some blueberries, some pine and especially pine needles. Lovely. Medium big body. Thickish mouthfeel. Flavour is malty sweet, surprisingly sweet actually, with an intense bitterness. The sweetness balances this out nicely though. Really hoppy, but really more on the pine and forest side, with herbal notes, blueberries and again pine needles. No longer finish, but what is there is bittersweet and dryish. A lovely black IPA. I'm biased as this is one of my favourite styles, but this is really just spot on - a lovely rendition of the style.
