COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Every year, we celebrate our anniversary with an imperial, barrel-aged version of our flagship Black Butte Porter. Our brewers love to experiment and they always add some fun new ingredients to this beer like chilies, cranberries, figs and other such treats. This year, to celebrate 28 years of brewing, they’ve added the interesting mix of ingredients above for another multi-layered flavor experience.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2019 650ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty-spicy, chocolately, slightly smoky, dark malty aroma, notes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, hints of peat, a touch of leather, fruity overtones with hints of orange zest, vanilla everywhere around, whiffs of alcohol, some caramel as well. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately dark malty, notes of vanilla, cocoa, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel, burnt caramel, floral hints of honey, a touch of hundreds and thousands, hints of orange, orange zest; lingering finish becomes slightly dry, woody and peaty with more distinct cocoa notes, subtly warming but overall well hidden alcohol. Oily to viscous texture, smooth, soft, silky and creamy palate. Excellent!

The peated malt much more pronounced in the flavour, smoothed out with barrel vanilla and warmth, booze strong in backhalf. Smooth feel with low carbonation, full and rich, lingering bitterness and whisky note. Really lovely.

BillWyce (1285) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 15, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2019 Bottle dated 6/13/16, consumed 21 months later. Pours opaque black with a 2-finger tan head. Aroma has notes of whiskey mixed with vanilla. Some of the wood comes through as well. Full-bodied and thick. Light astringency to the finish. The flavor of the cocoa comes through up front, giving way to notes of wood and whiskey. Some vanilla as well. As it warms, the peat shows a little, as does a touch of the orange at the back.
