Smoked Orange + Barrel-Ageing + Gose

Summer is sweet!
For Summer we have brewed a barrel aged, smoked orange gose. The base beer, containing smoked malt, developed in barrels over many months, quietly gaining acidity and complexity. We then introduced home-smoked Cornish sea salt and smoked orange segments.
The resulting beer is full of juicy zestiness and mouthwatering acidity while the smoked sea salt provides a decadent mouth feel and salinity. Refreshing and complex in the same mouthful the vibrancy of the citrus contrasts the delicate sweet smoke from both cherry wood and oak.

weark (1190) - Morges, SWITZERLAND - MAY 6, 2018

Bottle split at Bodney, team purchase,12/04/18 as Smoke 'n' barrels 2017. Clear light yellow to blonde with a decent white cap. Nose is pissy citric shreds, smoked, straw, funk, grains. Taste comprises Laphroaig bite, bitter orange peel, lime leaf, spice, light funk, straw, earthy. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation - aiding drinkability, drying close. Decent smoked affair ... good level of complexity for the ABV.

lasage (297) - DENMARK - APR 28, 2018
UPDATED: APR 28, 2018 Flaske. Uklar gylden, stort hvid skum, svinder til tynd lagt. Meget karakteristisk islay røg + nogle syrlige citrus/orange undertoner i aromaen. Umiddelbar meget syrlig Gose smag, som afløses af røget eftersmag. En udfordrende øl, meget speciel, bestemt ikke for alle og ikke en man drikke mange af, men meget lækker røgsmag hvis man er til den slags.

Bodney Bier Huis bottleshare. Thanks to the team. Light haze on this paleish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Thin dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Mildly acidic lemon clashes in perfect disharmony with peaty smoke. Battery acid finish. Fucken grim.

Leighton (26743) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2018
Bottle shared in Hackney - sourced from the brewery. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. Smoke, lemon, burnt plastic in the nose. Light sweet flavour with strong smoke, burnt rubber, tangy lemon, wheat flakes. Light to meidum bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dry finish, a little warmth, more aggressive smoke and burnt rubber. Intense, interesting.

MrTipple (11208) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2018
