Alengrin (7413) - BELGIUM - JAN 7, 2015
Tasted at a Zythos Bierfestival years ago, this was the original, extra hoppy version of Alvinne Blond. This is when things got interesting with this brewery: this was one of the first ’hops forward’ beers in Belgium, an immediate forerunner to the current Belgian IPAs, so to speak. It was a hazy peach blonde beer with moussy snow white head and a peppery and spicy hop character overlying the fruity esters, yeastiness and malt sweetishness of the basic beer. Still, this first attempt was not well balanced and showed some flaws (I remember a phenolic odour), so let’s say things only got better after this...

Hazy amber beer. Dry soft palate. A bit tart and sour. Hop bitterness with orange citrus peeping through. Finishes soft and frothy with more hop bitterness. Not bad but wouldn’t want loads.

Bottle from Sergio's. This is the most carbonated beer I've ha out of the bottle to date. It just keeps on pumping. Pours a hazy orange color with a robust white head. Can taste the non American yeast that I'm not accustomed to. For an IPA its very low in IBU taste. Long bitter duration though. Glad I tried it but still hooked on west coast IPAs and not worth the 9 dollars. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty sure mine said 2007 and restyled on it. mine didn’t foam over! A funky, spicy yeast fueled aroma is fed by peppery bran-like malts.  in the mouth it is crisp and biscuity with a real bitterness balancing the light toffee flavor. There is a rich creaminess to the finish too.

HMMMMM....what is this. The label says 2007 Alvinne Extra India Pale Ale restyled! Erupted quickly after popping. Poured into a tulip glass. Large white head. Aroma is of alcohol, bread, yeast, slight fruit-grape, cheese. Not impressed yet, Appearance- color is golden yellow, almost a hint of orange hue in light. Taste is alcohol, dough, spice, hay, hint of sweet, the balance is off here. Minimal hops, maybe a handful of citra. I dont know whats going on still, the palate is saturated with alcohol and dry, bitter, fruit. overall I give it a low rating for mislabeling the beer. This is NOT an IPA this is a belgian triple blond. I am sure there is a misprint or issue with this beer, I also realize with it being a 2007 the hops will subdue and mellow a bit over time, but this is not an IPA, I am not mad just dissapointed. I expected an IPA, thats my fav, but since were on the subject...this beer is unbalanced, overly acidic and saturates with alcohol. I am unimpressed with this beer, as a whole because its my first sample of Alvinne stuff, and I heard only good things. Oh well, have to try a diff one next time.

Bottle says 2007, and RateBeer says this is the correct place for this. Bottle also says Alvinne Extra India Pale Ale Restyled... so I’m confused what beer this actually is. Cloudy bright yellow with head upon head upon foamy, foamy head. Smells like a tripel to me. Sweet, spicy, hoppy. Weird, but not really bad.

Bottle at Delerium Café, Brussels. Pours clear golden with a foamy and bubbly white head. Aromas of orange fruit, grassy hops, grapefruit and yeast. Malty flavour with notes of spicy hops and old beer.

2003 bottle. Slightly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is fruity with malt, grass, and some white port. Dry and malty flavour, somewhat oxidized vineous. Bitter and hoppy finish saves the day.

33cl bottle @ Delirium Cafe, Brussels. 2003 Vintage. Pours clear golden with a small creamy white head. Nose is dust, yeast, old, aged hops, citrus. Crisp and dry. Too much mould and cellar unfortunatly.

Travlr (30309) - No fixed abode, South Dakota, USA - DEC 14, 2008
Bright yellow with large fluffy head. Aroma of flowery hops and light smoke. Medium body, balanced ho bitterness with nice smoky finish. Superior bitter, thumbs up.
