After drawing the colour indigo, the prospect of creating a blacklight inspired brew quickly became a reality in the form of a 9.2% imperial stout. Ripe bananas uniquely glow bright indigo beneath UV lights, many believe this is so the food source remains visible to animals that see in the UV range, such as bats. 200kg of molasses, 100kg of fresh blow-torched bananas, a unique blend of German and house Vermont yeast strains were complemented by more banana – 100kg of banana puree to be specific! For a final tasty coup de grâce, bourbon barrel aged coffee was added to the already spectacular mix.

Draught @ Taphouse, Copenhagen
Pours dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, banana and chocolate. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate, banana and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Średnia piana, szybko opadająca do chmurki. Barwa ciemno brązowa, wydaje się klarowna. W aromacie sporo wysokiej jakości kawy, czekolady, melasy, gdzieś w tle coś w rodzaju pieczonych bananów. W smaku jest sporo mlecznej słodyczy, świeżo palona kawa, likier kakaowy, popcorn w karmelu, melasa, rodzynki... W posmaku lekka słoność, deser bananowy i wanilia. Goryczka średnia do niskiej, palono pikantna. Niskie wysycenie, niezbyt gęste, wyklejające w odbiorze, lekko rozgrzewające od procentów.
Udany eksperyment, na szczęście intensywność świetnej kawy przykryła mdłe posmaki banana, a melasa i laktoza dodały fajnej słodyczy (niestety nie dodały ciała) ;)

Very dark almost pitch black color with small coffee foam. Aromas smooth of roasted coffee beans, light milkiness with notes of mashed bananas and smokiness. Palate, full body with smooth creamy texture leaving nice smooth finish. Taste, sweet of cream with notes of cocoa and bananas as well as very dark chocolate. Overall, rather cool beer! can tell that it is strong, does have that smoothness of banana in it incorporated to a stout, I like it! Nice!

First impression is the surprising hoppyiness for a stout and the low body that isn’t very conducive to this style. Didn’t really get that much banana, mostly chocolate, coffee, standard things. Medium carbonation. Doesn’t hide alcohol well, and I’m usually loth to point that out

Draught, Siren tap takeover at Taphouse. Jet black body, clingy lacing, fawn-coloured head. Inviting dried fruity aromas, roasted malty hints. Blended taste of dried fruits, banana chocolate, molasses and an impact of coffee. Roasted malt-fruity ending. Smooth. Taste stuff, on the sweet side. (Copenhagen 11.05.2017).

Wood alcohol on the nose. Dark brown, creamy head. Little body despite the description, particularly for something supposed to be so banana-heavy. Banana tastes in the background, but this is definitely not prominent - tastes more of coffee and toffee.

[5/11/17] Draught at Taphouse in Copenhagen. Black. Banana, roast, coffee, sweet and bitterish.

zvikar (6218) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - MAY 11, 2017
At the Taphouse, pours black with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, flavor of chocolate, coffee, caramel, medium bodied, nice

beer-yum (1782) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 4, 2017
Enticing mocha aroma in a brown black pour. Similarly alluring flavor profile with chocolate and coffee with a hint of banana and wood. Interestingly different - and eminently enjoyable.
