This Jopen/Odell collaboration drinks fine for a Belgian Blonde Ale, but the added notes of chocolate and almond are extremely light. Aside from the usual malty flavors, there’s just a touch of cocoa and nut. Oddly, the almond note was more noticeable to me. It showed most clearly in the finish. Even then, the nutty taste came across almost as vegetal instead of roasty and savory. I thought this would be a divine pairing with a pint of Häagen-Dazs Trio, but the beer ended up being underpowered in terms of sweetness. SinH4 (4971) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - JUL 22, 2017
Tap. Hazy amber color with white head. Aroma is nutty, almonds, bready, malty. Taste is nutty, lots of almonds, bready. Medium carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Interesting! DutchDrebus (6036) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUL 16, 2017
Bottle @ home. Clear golden orange colour with a head that doesn’t last. Smells sweet, malts, meaty. Tastes yeasty, malts, grains, dry, hint of chocolate. Too much carbo, thin to medium body. kerenmk (4802) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JUL 14, 2017

Some chocolate and some biscuit and pecan taste. Medium body, slightly oily, some chocolate milk finish. fonefan (49586) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2017

[ As Jopen / Odell Nuts For Chocolate ].
Clear medium orange yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, light chocolate, light almond - marzipan malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, chocolate - vanilla, sweet malt - marzipan malt, pale malt, almond. Odd !! Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
On tap at Jopenkerk, Haarlem on 23-Jun-2017. Clear golden colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma of malt, cereal and a hint of chocolate. Medium body and carbonation. Taste is light chocolate, almond and sweet malt. Smooth, blonde beer - but the almond / chocolate is too subtle. Maarten1993 (1310) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JUN 15, 2017
Drank with Rik while watching CL-final 03-06-17. Not very special. Some chocolate, but quite neutral blond beer. Nice body though. ads135 (4731) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUN 14, 2017
Not a ton of nuts or chocolate, but hints of both. Also some toffee and a little caramel. jgb9348 (6328) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JUN 11, 2017
Clear golden coloured body with a thin, very fast-dying white head, only a centimetre tall. Aroma of peanuts, malt, light chocolate, grain, more nuts and a hint of earth - relatively mild though. Light-bodied; Sharp nutty flavour at first that just shows some almond and peanuts along with a dry chocolate flavour that hits near the end and a finish that is quite mundane and malty. Aftertaste just shows the light almond and nutty notes with a hint of chocolate and that’s about it - easy to drink and go down, but nothing too spectacular here. Overall, I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this really is just a blonde ale with a few light nutty and chocolate flavours that is still very mild throughout. Perhaps that’s what they were going for, and if so, kudos, but it doesn’t bring anything new to the table or make worthwhile to search out for, plus it was a tad expensive, although it was coming from Holland. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased a few hours ago at New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 10-June-2017 for US$5,50 sampled in my hotel room in Midtown Manhattan a few hours later on 10-June-2017. dorain (423) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2017
