"Discover this genuine dark Trappist beer with a gentle flavour, creamy head and pronounced bouquet.
La Trappe Dubbel has a deep brown colour and attractive beige froth. The use of caramel malt gives it a gentle aromatic caramelised quality. It has a rich malty flavour with a touch of sweetness. Post-fermenting La Trappe Dubbel is a smooth drink, and yet has some real body and intense flavour to it.

Bottle in Seattle. Eggshell, lingering soft head. Moderately dark, malty brown with some floaties. Fruity sweet nose. Banana bread throughout. Well constructed, obviously. Raisins and some leather under the esters. Smooth, balanced, tasty.

30cl bottle at home. Appearance: chestnut brown with medium sized creamy white head. Aroma: overripe banana, esters, sweet malts and some licorice. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of overripe banana, caramel, ethyl acetate/fruit esters, burnt sugar and some licorice root. Palate: medium bodied, watery to oily texture and medium bitterness. Overall: rather sweet and fruity, but good.

0,33 bottle. Színe szép barna, bársonyos, borostyán beütéssel. A hab vékonyan megmarad, világos capuccinó színű.

La Trappe beers just don't disappoint. The brewers have a way of making strong Abbey ales into some of the smoothest and most approachable beers that I've tasted. Their Dubbel is as lovely as anything else I've been able to enjoy from them. Rich brown color. Sweet toasted grains and fruits on the nose. Full-bodied caramelized dark fruit sensations on the palate with some warm booze. This ale is syrupy and heavily malty. The candied fruit presence is assertive but never cloying. This proved to be an excellent pairing with Ćevapi. The thickness and starchiness of this beer worked nicely with the unctuous and somewhat spicy Bosnian sausages. A beautiful beer for an excellent meal.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2018 Barwa ciemno miedziana. Piana srednia, szybko redukuje sie do obraczki. W aromatach glownie palonosc, banan i troche zelaza. W smaku rowniez lekkie zelazo, duzo suszonych owocow, glownie sliwka. Troche banana i syropu klonowego. Dosc slodkie, pozniej robi sie lekko wytrawne. Calkiem niezle, ale spodziewalem sie czegos wiecej.

Smell - quite strong, roast, caramel, malty, even tickled nose a bit. Foam - some carbonation, little creamy, soft, bitter, sweet. Taste - bitter and sweet, some alcohol flavor, caramel tones, at start carbonated, some bittersweet aftertaste. Quite nice.
