COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and Goudenband from different vintages, and can consist of between 15 and 20 different batches of beers. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a deep reddish-brown colour, with a pale head and wood and almond notes. On the palette, you can clearly taste the slightly sweet, yet at the same time gently bitter fruit flavours. This is a beer that just oozes class…

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2019 One of the best (if not the best) 'kriek'beers in the world! Ok, there are better... but only brewed in a very small amount and almost not available if you don't know the brewer. But this is how a real 'kriek'beer should taste: sour and NOT sweet! Opening a big bottle is always a feast with friends: and always a nice surprise for those who never tasted a real 'kriek': tasty, refreshing and bringing a smile on the faces. For me the perfect beer to enjoy on a sunny evening sitting on a terras in the shade.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2019 330ml bottle. Pours deep murky ruby with a sparse beige-pink head. Aromas of sour cherries, malt and oak and vanilla. Acidic cherry and fruit flavours married with candy floss and malt. Low end of the carbonation scale, probably a wise choice to keep carbonic acid levels in check. Balanced mouthfeel with no creaminess detected. Finishes tart and quite dry. This is the beer that turned me on to sour beers, after struggling to find a liking in the trend for at least 10 years. It has become the beer I buy most frequently, even if it isn't the best example of the style.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2019 A bit sour, sweet and intense for cherry taste. Not for a daytime beer under the sunlight, but great for a warm evening.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2019 33 cl bottle (BBD 2018-12 - may have written that down wrong...), bought from and drunk at Trevs Bar (DH1 3LN) on 2019-06-26. Appearance is a clear deep ruby with no carbonation and a thin, pink-tinged head. A little more head and carbonation would have been appreciated. Aroma is funk first with some sour cherry notes after. Unlike some fruit beers the fruit doesn't dominate, which I think is good. Little simple though. Taste is nice and tart. Some richer woody and caramel flavours towards the finish with a little bit of sour taste throughout. I like it. Palate is medium bodied with a small amount of carbonation in the mouth. Quite smooth and surprisingly velvety with a medium length finish. Overall, a reasonable Flanders red sour. I would like it with a touch more sourness, but this is perfectly enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2019 On draft 8-9 years ago. Pours a reddish brown with a medium to larger thick head. Nose and flavor are pool cherries, jam, vinegar, oak, and malt. Authentic cherry flavors and not painfully sweet like other offerings from Liefmans. Solid
