Benzai (15921) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 18, 2017
Sampled @ 10th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg, Day 1. Opaque dark brown color, small to medium sized beige to light brown colored head. Aroma is fucking horrible, reminds me of some kind of horrible candy or drink I had as a kid. Don’t remember what it was unfortunately, but bloody hell this is awful. Taste is fortunately not nearly as extreme. It still has that over the top cherry but at least there is SOME imperial stout there as well. Marzipan, candy, artificial candy cherry. Thank god I didn’t open a bomber of this on my own. To summarise: what the hell is this aroma!!? Flavor is actually ok but the aroma is very very off putting.

A opaque dark brown beer with a small beige head. Aroma of artificial sweet cherry, almond, liqourice. Taste of strong dark riped cherries, quite sweet, almonds, cinnamon, weird.

Bottle shared at Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering ’17. Dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of huge dried cherries, completely intense and way too much. Dark chocolate behind and marzipan. It settles into being an intense cake. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter. Light full bodied with soft carbonation. Too much.

[email protected] Au Trappiste -dark beer with a little beige foam left; deep and robust aroma of cherries and amaretto, light toasted; velvety palate, sweet, full-bodied, very well-hidden alcohol, low carbonation; very long finish of amaretto with hints of grain
