Head pleasant and creamy of good maintenance, leading you in a hypnotic wish. Stout build, this beer of great aroma generosity is dominated by the sweetness and nuances of caramel offers sweet flavor, but sugar free. This beer is now brewed by brasserie Caulier for the former Rochefortoise brewery.

Strong aroma and flavour. Full bodied. Very complex. The beer grows and evolves while in your mouth. Good.

Caulier version, the ’massive ale’ in this series. Dark brown, hazy beer with stable off-white foam. Caramelly malts, candied fruits, chocolatey, nutty, yeasy with a rounded, soft, almost fluffy mouthfeel, bit warming alcohol, herbal hops and toasted malts in the finish. Very nice, the best of the (discontinued) Rochefortoises, in my opinion.

From Backlog aged @ Kulminator

head: white, foamy
Colour: dark brown
Smell: dried fruits, chocolat, caramel, creamy, nice
Taste: exact the same as the aroma , such a rich and delicious beer !

Cremig-malziger Geruch, deutlich alkoholisch. Test vom 24.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,13,13,14,12,13 - 12,90

[email protected] 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks WK!). Reddish amber brown colour with a big foamy/fluffy off-white head. Leaves nice lace. Aroma is caramel malts, dark dry fruits, some raisins and plum along with burnt sugar, some slight spiyness as well as mild wooden notes. Flavour is caramel malts, dark dry fruits, some raisins, mild wooden notes as well as spices. Some alcohol also shows as the beers gets warmer.

Bottle 33cl @ [ Tasting in Ulfborg ].
Light unclear dark red amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, dark berry, raisin, brown sugar, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. (110708)

Courtesy of Fonefan. It’s a dark, red mahogany color and the head is dense. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, raisin and other dried fruits. The flavour has sweetness, notes of raisin and other dried, dark fruits, candy sugar, caramel, malt and in spite of the 10% there is very little alcohol in the flavour. A pleasant beer to sip.

A very nice beer, only to bad it is no longer available. Full bodied and a sweet touch

ekstedt (7519) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 7, 2007
Bottle (vintage 2002) from hildigöltur’s beer cellar (thanks!). Deep hazy mahogny with a minimal off-white head. Nutty, fruity, slightly roasted aroma with wooden notes. Soft mouthfeel with low carbonation. Very well balanced, the 10 % alcohol are remarkably well hidden.
