COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We invited Beavertown, who are at the very pinnacle of UK craft breweries, to a collaborative brewday. On a pre-dawn voyage of discovery with London’s finest we stumbled into dadybreak and uncovered renewed purpose with this imperial stout.

Riffing on the theme of how to kick-start those early mornings brewers find themselves battling against, this beer is a smoke and caffeine-themed heavyweight aged in three different whisky casks.

Each of those casks brings its own element into play – the peaty Islay, oaky vanilla Bourbon and spicy Rye all having an input. With molasses, caramel, raisin and mocha notes this beer is dry, peaty and roasty and will charge your glassware and soul both.

Pours dark brown, black with a small, dark head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, cigarettes, peat, tar. Taste is coffee, peat, chocolate, tar. Some sweetness. Alright, complex with a few layers, but not really to my liking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at BrewDog Leicester. Dark brown. And opaque with a ring of sandalwood head. Coffee and hot fudge aroma with not a lot of the suggested smoke. Taste is sweet and smokey - now I do get a fair bit of fag ash - with the buttering hop intensifying as well as balancing. Long boozy finish. Tar liquorice and butter cooking chocolate in the aftertaste. Naughty, crazy and gorgeous.

JoTheO (220) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 12, 2017
Bottle 330ml. Totally black, beige creamy head. Coffee, oaky and smoky notes in the aroma. One of those whisky casks used is heavily peated (Lagavulin?). Taste is initially salty and then more peat. Goes into some sweet alcohol and syrupy tastes. Bit unbalanced with too much of those peat notes (OK, "Cigarettes", I get it...). Carbonation is a bit sharp to be a good mouthfeel. No boozy sticky alcohol in the palate, though.

Quite dark brown, with a ring head. Dank cellar aroma with musty, mouldy hints. Burns the mouth with booze - where are my dragons? Beans and obnoxiousness. If this were a cup of coffee, I’d just pour it down the sink. Bad. Phil is sure he remembers enough of this to be scarred by it, but Anna doesn’t remember him actually drinking any.

LazyPyro (1289) - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 21, 2017
330ml bottle. Pours black with a frothy tan head. Aroma: strong peaty smoke, a little roasted malt, liquorice, chocolate and coffee. Taste: strong peaty smoke dominates, chocolate and roasted malt, dark fruit, not that much coffee flavour here just coming through in the finish, bittersweet and smokey, bourbon, alcohol burn. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Good beer but far too smokey for my tastes, it overpowers most of the other flavours and the coffee especially seems lost in this, it did come through a little more as it warmed up but not enough for me.

On tap on TCBW 2017. Pours dark brown colour. Thin beige head. Smoke, caramel, notes of bitter chocolate in the aroma. Smoky beginning. Slightly sweet, caramelly in the middle. Chocolate, bitterness and smoke un the end. Smoky aspect dominating. Slight alcochol in the aftertaste. Rather heavy bodied, low carbonated, descent brew.
