bottle at the last ever erzbierschof monday club courtesy of TTT, beer is a collab of TTT and UG-Bräu with the goal to create something that they have never come across: a Berliner Weisse Eisbock. This is variant 01, which was soured with limes and (i believe) lemons.
First off, I (and many of my peers) consider myself a very harsh rater who rarely gives out top marks but the appearances of W Ice-01 is something to behold. Clear, brown almost like an oud bruin but clearly visible alcohol legs on glass much like whiskey. Apart from the optics, this is just an outerwordly beer, unlike any I have previously had the pleasure to enjoy. The nose is dominated by high alcohol fruit from the yeast, lots of apricot, plums and peaches embedded in a see of citrus-rind. Taste is surprisingly pleasing with the sour only playing a back role to the rest of the amalgamation of impressions. There is some carbonation still in it but the feeling is pretty viscous, this is a perfect desert beer after a long tasting session or by a warm fireside. courtesy of urs Flunser - quite clear bronze beer without foam; the aroma is citric with notes of oranges and lactic tones; very sweet, sour and sticky; dry, very sour and with a strong warming alcohol feeling; very fruity with notes of peaches, apricots and citrus - amazing ! anstei (2358) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - MAY 8, 2017
Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Pours flat viscous clear amber. Aroma is formaldehyde, bitter almond, strong dried overripe fruit. Body is heavy, sweet, lactic, salty beyond anything. Still very well balanced, super strong. Long salty boozy palate. An outstanding beer!
