Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer. Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2020 11.2 ounce bottle in Peninsula, Ohio. Smell Belgium sweetness. Dark brown with big off-white head. Light taste of yeast and some sweetness Very smooth and alcohol is well hidden. Very nice beer. Cheers!

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2020 Ambrata con schiuma media. Aromi fruttati e floreali. In bocca è inizialmente molto dolce e maltata, con un leggero gusto di caramello. Si presenta abbastanza piccante e speziata. Sentori fruttati. Ottima dubbel molto gustosa.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2020 Pours a dark brown. Tastes of a toned down stout. Little to no bitterness

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2020 Appearance - copper colour, red ale-esque, tan head that sticks around. Aroma of Breadcrust, toffee, dried apples, light banana bread, light orange peel, a little herbal hop too. Taste is same, much drier than i expected, with a cola thing going on at the back end. Finishes with a note somewhere between the acidity of sourdough and the hefty nuttiness of brown bread. Alot of Belgian beers are simply too yeasty and fruity for my palate, but this turned out to be quite the malt-bomb, with just enough hop bitterness and esthers to balance it out. If i had one critique it would be that the body was quite thin, but this particular bottle was a little older than would be typically drunk. A really nice beer to sip and make last the evening, or to crush three and pass out.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2020 Uma cerveja com sabor e perfil bem maltado e um pouco doce, com um leve defumado de fundo.

DLCwolf (23) - ITALY - AUG 22, 2020

heno (565) - DENMARK - AUG 11, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2020 Bottle. Hazy light brown, off-white head. Aroma: caramel malts, toffee, dried apple, marcipan, popcorn. Lots of layers. Light sweetness, light-medium tartness. Noticeable esters and alcohol. Not my type, but okay nonetheless.
