Beese (17142) - Tooting, London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 6, 2019
Cask at La Gothique, Wandsworth in 2013. Clear deep ruby with a rocky offwhite head. Aroma of big dark fruit, prunes, raisins, caramel, plum pudding. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel. Sweet, but not saccharine; this continues to be one of those beers that doesn’t really have any piers. It’s super interesting and quite mooreish.

Martinsh (2837) - Crewe, Cheshire, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2019 Cask at Great Western, Wolverhampton I can’t believe I’ve not rated this before ! Nose is unremarkable – just some hints of porridge. Pours a rich ruby brown with a small cream head, and good lacing. Taste is a bittersweet conglomerate that is hard to define. More and more flavours come to the fore as it progresses through the mouth. Hazelnuts, liquorice, blackcurrant, raisins, figs, all with a full-bodied malty base to them. A wonderfully complex beer – the classic strong mild that all others (ought to) seek to emulate. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Pours very dark with pretty much no head. Rich aroma of dark fruits and sweet malt, medium to strong sweet in flavour with medium bitterness to offset it. Very nice
