COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Russian Imperial Stout with Coconut, Lime, Ginger, Lemongrass, Basil, & Coffee. Inspired by our brewers’ love of the assertive, bright flavors of Thai ingredients, this intensely flavored brew incorporates the vibrant quality of several Thai-inspired ingredients into our classic imperial stout. Powerful notes of citrus, botanicals, and tropical fruit balance the stout’s rich chocolate, caramel, and coffee character. The result is an amazingly flavorful and complex beer that pays tribute to the flavors of Thailand.

Pours black in color with a tan head. Roasty chocolatey aroma spiked with Thai spice notes. Thick chocolate and roast flavors, moderate sweetness, and a nice strong but not overpowering Thai spice character. Notes: on tap at the brewery, Oct '17

On tap at hopaholic. Small brown lacing. Nose is intense spices. Ginger lemongrass is strong. Taste is also ginger and spices. Tonka, lemongrass, ginger. Nice but too spicey, and not enough stouty for me.

07-OCT-2017, bottle @home, from Boxbeers, with Ulkløbben. Black with a lasting, brown head. Herbal... Ginger, lemon grass, lime but not in at sour way. Way too herbal for me. The usual fatnastic coffee Speedway is underneath it all but I don't like it. Not in my Speedway Stout. I give this a 4. That is not bad but I really do not like the taste that much. But still - this is a Speedway :-)

Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: zoet, kruidig. Leuk, complex bier.

@ Gollem Beer and Burgers Aroma is huge cinnamon Taste is cinnamon, but less than in the aroma. It blends in with the other tastes. Fresh taste with lemongrass, smooth coffee, tad peppery: due to krapow basil? Palate is silky. Such a nice balance of all those flavours. Don't really taste the coconut though. Finish is fresh, lemony, coffee, peppery and cinnamon. Fantastic how these opposed tastes blend so well.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2017 Thanks to 90! Sampled draft @ Gollem. Black, little head. Nose is extremely massive on spices, galangal, cloves, cardamom, low cinnamon, cloves & cardamom are massive almost bit more Indian than Thai, huge bitter roasted coffee as well. Taste is extreme cloves, cardamom, lower ginger, galangal, cinnamon, so heavy on the first two, coconut is virtually absent, finish is heavy on coffee. Very thick lovely creamy bodied. Very interesting heavy spice beer, not very Thai, more cloves, cardamom, ginger, all spice for me, the coconut is virtually absent sadly, lemongrass is absent :( as is lime :( basic used is Thai basil I assume, got some faint sage, rosemary feel in the back, maybe that? Coffee is big time. Seriously no chilli in the Thai version? So sadly no coconut, lemongrass, ginger etc. assault but still an interesting extremely spicy & oddly tasty RIS. (saw some Thai food stuff with basil included, I was wrong about that one).
