COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour and sight: Dark brown-red. A compact white-yellow, stable and lacing head. Scent: Touches of caramel, mocha and chocolate. Spices such as liquorice and coriander are also present. Flavour: Initially, a very good mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. This is followed by an increasing bitterness, partially from the hop, but also from the roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end a nice balance between bitterness, sour and sweet.

Reddish brown with big beige head. Aroma is spicy sweet with dark fruit and caramel. Taste is light sweet with red wine tannins and sourness, woody bitter finish. Medium body with some alcohol bite. Nicely balanced and complex.

At Cambrinus, Bruges. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, big, frothy, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, licorice, hops and spices. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter, ending almost cloying and a bit hoppy and spicy.; warming aclohol. Medium body, oily/slick texture, soft fizzy carbonation. Can't shake the feeling that something's off, it could have been better, perhaps in want of more richness...

Dark red ale with intensely fizzy head. Pour carefully! Very obviously bottle conditioned. Might get another one in and keep it for a few years. Delicious beer but incredibly rich. Took me over an hour to finish.

Bottle. Pours a very dark color with generous foamy beige head. Predominantly caramel malt aroma. Slightly sweet flavor with a bit of roasted malt and caramel notes along with some fruitiness. Medium-to-full bodied with a bit of hoppy bitterness to balance the sweetness in the finish. Quite nice.

Tap at Delirium Cafe, like a fine wine, hints of nuts. Understanding why I used to feel quite gone after a pint or two of these in my local in Paris....
