Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2019 Can purchased from Booths in Carnforth. Looks impressive but the taste is a bit of a let down. One of those predictable, pretentious lagers. Can’t see the fuss.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2019 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is clear golden-amber with decent sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is biscuit/bready malt, light fruit. Taste is bready Pilsner malts, earthy European hops. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and crisp finish as taste with lingering dry mild bitterness. Overall, less harsh than the foreign lagers I've been having lately but the same basic aroma/taste. More bitter than I'd prefer. OK.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2019 Draft. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, with layered lacing, over a clear amber (SRM 100 body......nose is moderate toasted malts, with mild hop spice fruit tones, balance to the malts......taste is toasted malts, with slight hints of sweet, moderate hop tones, with spice fruit notes, finishing with moderate hop bitter tones.....mouth feel, medium body, no alcohol, light carbonation. This is pleasantly malt dominated compared to many in the style, which as a result it misses style.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2019 Very nice lager. Hoppy nose and hoppy tones as well; a lot less sweet than eg a Heineken

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2019 500 ml can at home, bb. 20.1.2020. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. The aroma is lightly to medium malty and lightly hoppy - sweetish grains, cereals, some dried apples, hay, some grass. Medium body with a soft carbonation, a light to medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor starts with lightly sweetish malt, sweet grains, cereals, hints of biscuit, dried apples, followed by earthy, herbal hops, hints of citric notes. Finishes with a light and lasting hoppy bitterness. Clean lager with quiet some sweetish malt and a nice hop presence. Nothing outstanding but pretty decent. UPDATED: MAR 8, 2019 Review: 5cl bottle of Brooklyn Lager: 5.2% vol. The iconic logo showing the big white B for Brooklyn on a green background, instantly recognizable. Has a nice amber colour on pour with a decent frothy white head. Looks ok on pour. Some slight lacing. Not a bad looking beer. Get an interesting floral hoppy aroma, fruity, not too bad on the nose, pleasant enough. A light IPA note. Not too bad. I guess that is all that “dry hopping” they mention in their blurb. On the taste not a bad start, nice and smooth, IPA style in that the hops are quite noticeable but very manageable. Sweet malts, fruity and hoppy. Bit surprised, had it twice on tap, didn’t like it at all but this is much more palatable for me! Enjoying it as it is very crisp and tasty, Standard in taste but all well balanced, light and soft enough to enjoy and goes down easy enough. Caramel mouthfuls were nice to taste and gave a good balance to the beer. A lager with a bite. Nothing extraordinary but it does the business.
