500 ml bottle. Pours a veiled golden with a resilient white head. Aroma is lemon, grapefruit, lime and vanilla. Flavor is lemon, lime, pepper, coriander. Finish is honey, grapefruit and lime. Lingering residual sugars. Medium to full body, velvety mouthfeel and average carbonation.

Poured into a goblet. Very ample carbonation, lacing all over the glass. Incredibly sour and sweet beer with a hint of coriander and a sour, fruity finish. The first bottle I had, I was convinced was infected, as the sourness rivaled that of vinegar. As I sip my fourth one from that 6 pack, I find myself becoming acclimatized, or am I just a sucker for punishment!

Bouteille de 341 ml achetée dans un IGA local. Dégustée le 14 septembre 2005 (snifter). Bière blonde pâle voilée. Mousse peu, col mince et éphémère. Assez effervescente, bulles fines. Odeur de levure prononcée. Goût de levure, assez âcre. Alcool ne ressort pas. Bière peu savoureuse et plutôt fade.

Bottle 341ml. Pours blond with high creamy white head. Intense lacing. Aroma is of citrus, sourness, funk, bretts?. Taste is of citrus, sourness, some acidity. Sugar, green apples, tartness. Palate: Light-medium body. Medium-high carbonation. Balance is’nt top notch: it’s kind of sweet. Overall: I shall eat my hat is this beer is not infected. Some kind of souring bacteria. I don’t wanna insinuate anything, but they recently brewed beers with wild yeast and stuff in it... Could it be that they infected their other beers? I’m only asking questions. It appear to me that, as it is, "La Belge" is somewhat good. However, the sourness and acidity, combined with citrus action, are really what’s interesting in here. There is a lot of sugar too, so I greatly question initial balance. Without the sour/acidic kick, this one migth be pretty bad (wich is an opinion expressed in many other ratings). Odd rating, but this is what was in my bottle. Will probably re-rate in the future.

Summer 2012 Had this as part of a mixed 6-pack from a convenience store on St-Laurent. This sucked, the whole 6 pack was horrible, the color & look were fine for each style (this was a nice clear gold with that belgian notes trying to get past the infection) but they must have been infected or past their prime because every single beer tasted like bile. My brother finished them as no one else wanted to touch the stuff.

blonde prise au verre au festibiere . gout de miel et d’oregan. peu d’amertume et petite acidité

Random street beer while walking to meet a friend that ended up very decent (the beer, not the friend). Pours blonde with ok head and lacing. Nice sweet malt, nice florals. Decently balanced Belgian blonde. A little underrated, but certainly a good beer to brown paper bag it walking down the alleys of Montreal.

Bouteille 341ml.

Originally rated September 2005. Pours a cloudy light yellow-beige loaded with chunck of yeast-looking particules all over the glass. The head is medium size and foamy with not much retention. Lacing is minimal. Aromas of dark fruit, sweet malt and some spices. Very light mouthfeel. The taste is quite smooth with some apples, dark fruits, caramel, cinnamon and other spices. Quite interesting brew for Schoune, just not my thing (as too much plums).

Amazing golden yellow amber. Thick sediment still in bottle. Apple like scent with a touch of orange and spice. Slightly sour yet still somewhat sweet. Sour aftertaste. Start was better then the finish.
