COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional & bottle conditioned.
Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Bottle bought in Cornwall. Poured red / amber brown with a small short lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, citrus, hops, biscuit and a hint of spice. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, oily/smooth texture, soft carbonation. Pretty good.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2018 Bottle, 500 ml @ The Old Fishing Shack, CY. Quite complex ale, not dull, fruity notes beyond the British characteristics. Hazy dark brown with an orange shade. Foam is thin and off white. Aromas of fodder, hay, wet brown bread, vanilla, caramel and apple with baking spices. Great and rich palate, pleasent bitterness on the end, medium aftertaste. Above average ale, i like it a lot...

Bottle. Dark brown like a teabag was left in too long, with a slight scum of a head. Nose is metallic. Old pennies. Taste is sour biscuits, little bit of lemon. A little bit of dark fruit. Not really sold on this, but down it goes...

Pours brown from the bottle. Tall, foamy head settles but lingers. Aroma is vinegar with hints of caramel. Taste is horrendously sour .. probably infected. I don’t think it’s supposed to be like this. Drainpour.

ozzatoadisback (297) - ITALY - NOV 13, 2017
Dark amber/light brown, slightest hazy, with a couple of fingers of the slightest off-white head. Decent retention and lacing. Fairly lively aroma is biscuity, slight caramel, slight leafy and delicately fruity, maybe with a hint of spiciness. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter, overall in perfect balance. Biscuity malts and slight caramel, slight earthy/leafy/tea-like note, delicate citric and raisiny fruitiness. Overall not as vivid as the aroma suggested. Light to medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, goes down easy and smooth. Overall ok and true too style, not at all remarkable.
