If you were in a pub sometime between 1821 and 1970, chances are this is the Guinness you would have been drinking. Originally brewed as the XX version of our Porter, it’s hoppy, roasty, and crisp, with a bittersweet finish.

Caramel and roasty sweet aroma, generally I'd say it's a good one, I honestly like it. Usual bottle, nothing to add. Taste is not as good as the aroma but it's still okay. Very enjoyable and easy to drink, gives you some taste of a hop, yeast and negligible amount of caramel. Overall I'd say it's a good one, definitely recommend it.

The label on my bottle is all silver with black text (unlike the picture shown here). This beer was included in a variety four-pack celebrating Guinness being exported to the US for 200 years. It is 4.2%, so I'm going to enter a rating here for it (hope that's alright...). This stout pours a black color with an ample tan head. There isn't much lacing left on the inside of the glass, though. The nose features some cream, chocolate, light hops and roasted malt. The body is very drinkable, but seems more like a porter than a stout. But that's nit-picking and not a huge deal. The flavors are smooth with roasted malt, chocolate, bitter hops, a hint of wood and cream. Excellent stout.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2018 Whether or not this is truly 'the original', it's probably not what you're looking for if you desire a Guinness that reminds you of the creamy draught stout you can find in pubs (though a canned offering of that one exists). Not bad, but over-carbonated and with a somewhat watery finish. Better stours can be found anyway - but for the (modern) Guinness sensation, just go with the 'draught' version. Nitrogen makes all the difference to texture and taste, delivered by a widget in the can - and missing in this bottle.

Prawie czarna barwa, klarowne, beżowa piana, kremowa, obfita. W aromacie czekolada mleczna niezbyt intensywna. Średnie wysycenie. W smaku puste, wyczuwalna metaliczność. Lekka czekolada gorzka, leciutka paloność. Goryczka jakaś tam jest, ale na niskim poziomie zdecydowanie. Piwo jest mocno wytrawne.

Bottle at the trusty dining room table, Pours a seemingly black color with mahogany tones when held up to the light, it's got a nice big head that leaves good lacing on the glasss. The aroma is lightly roasty and a touch fruity. It's lightly sweet smelling with a mild metallic character and a little bit of toasty malt. The flavor is dry & pleasantly bitter, roasty throughout with a light touch of fruitiness. It certainly has that light burnt toast character everyone who lamented the crappy Canadian Guinness always noted. This is simple & it is also perfectly tasty, I'm neither terribly excited by it, but man I'm certainly enjoying the heck outta it.

"Draught stout" Blik gekocht en gedronken in Frankrijk tijdens vakantie. Donkerbruin bier met mooie beige schuimkraag. Aroma van drop en kruiden. Smaak van salmiak en rokerig, verder wat waterig. Weinig nasmaak. Bier valt wat tegen, weinig body.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2018 Bottle as gift. Pours black with tan foam. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is more malt, water, barbecue sauce smokiness, really fizzy.

finn1918 (240) - Georgia, USA - AUG 20, 2018
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2018 From the variety pack. Pours typical jet black with tan head that retreats to a ring with lacing. Head is a bit less thick than Extra Stout. Aroma is weak caramel and toffee, no hops. Taste is just like extra stout, but a little sweet with a subdued bitterness at the end. Rich, silky mouthfeel. I wouldn't pay extra for less alcohol, but it's a solid stout.
