COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered Sold as Chouffe Houblon IPA; also sold as Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops, yeast, invert sugar syrup A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

UPDATED: APR 21, 2021 330 ml bottle. Bought online. Golden color, big head. Strong sweet smell, not super hoppy or citric like other ipas, more like pepper and caramel. Taste is round, very good. sweet at the beggining, wheat in the middle, and astringent at the ending. Fantastic beer, a very good.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2021 Poured golden body with fading loose white foam lacing. Aroma is spicy, hoppy with pale malt notes. Taste is medium bitterness with a pleasant languor. Palate is medium to light body with a definite tang, carbonation average and lasting bitter taste. I have drunk it before and never pondered the puzzle of its categorisation: is it a Belgian Tripel or an international IPA? The entry here even has Saison mentioned. Further proof that the generic terms are imprecise and perhaps it is more important to consider whether you like the taste! As a man more drawn to the malty side of the beer spectrum, I drink IPAs in moderation and appreciate them as beers ideal for the summer: refreshing and for me preferable to lager. I suspect the Danish front-runners might want to revisit their 2006 rates, but it is still deserving of its status.

BeerBoor90 (87) - Pescara, ITALY - FEB 25, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2021 The bitter gnome. Deep blond color, with an abundant and quite persistent white head. The aroma is markedly characterized by hints of citrus fruits (lemon and grapefruit), mixed tropical and yellow fruit, candied sugar, flowers and fresh herbs. The taste presents a pleasant combination of flavors of yellow fruit (particularly peaches), honey and flowers with citrus and tropical flavors of lemon, grapefruit and vague mango, surrounded by a good bitterness with a floral-herbaceous character. The body is medium-silky with a fairly strong carbonation and a present but well balanced alcohol. Overall an excellent beer, capable of adequately blending Belgian tradition with Anglo-American innovation.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2021 What a beer. The aroma is very lively and give you a lot of Grapefruit, hops and lemon nose. The taste is super lively and aggressive. Many hops goes in your mouth and tropical fruits. The aftertaste is amazing with a bitterness that has long duration. The carboration is high and the beer is also refreshing. All in all, perhaps the best 'IPA' i have drink. This brewery is incredible in my opinion.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2021 Old notes from 2016. (the bottle was from 2010) hazy golden with a small white head. Yeast, mild hops, light grass and some fruit and notes of caramel. Well hidden alcohol.

PubMaestro56 (20) - - JAN 5, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2021 A great mix between an American Imperial IPA and a Tripel. It is bitter, of course, but less than other IPAs. On the other hand, the classical tropical fruit taste is well balanced with the classic Belgian esters. Great beer.
