Westvleteren Blond is the basic beer for the monks’ own consumption, since 1999, when the former 6° dark ale (red cap) was finally discarded, after the 4° had already gone that path.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2018 Enjoyed at Westvleteren. Aroma subtle and slightly sour smell. Head is white and does settle into spotty head that lasts until the drink is done. Flavour is very well balanced, nice bready malts finishing with a refreshing but quite restrained bitter touch.

330 ml bottle at Werckmeisters place, shared by Jessy, many thanks! Pours a hazy golden with a white head. The aroma is lightly yeasty, spicy and lightly malty - hints of banana, cinnamon, nutmeg, peppery, honey, toffee, dried fruits, raisins. Medium body with a soft to average carbonation, a light sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is medium malty - biscuit, honey, some caramel, dried fruits, some pear, spices, cinnamon. Finishes with a herbal, hoppy bitterness.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2018 Amazing fresh Belgian aroma. Pours slightly hazy with a thick white head. Quite bitter with yeasty spicy notes. Drinkable but with loads going on flavour wise. Definitely one of the best Belgian blonds I’ve had.

Botlle. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of spicey yeast, slight grassy, peach, and faint bubblegum alike yeast, slight grains and hay - a bit bready. Taste is medium bitter with a moderate sweet touch of malts, loads of yeast - spicey and baguette alike malts, slight grassy hops - a bit herbal, light dry finish. Good stuff.

Uiterlijk: Helderblond bier met een krijtwitte schuimkraag. Geur: Kruidig, hop, gist, hooi, bloemig. Smaak: Hop, gist, citrus, droogbitter. Mond: zacht hoppig, olieachtig, eindigt aangenaam droog.
