Formerly known as Andechser Weissbier Hefetrüb.

When summer is on the way and the days invite you to swim, ramble, climb, or simply enjoy the outdoors, you will discover that an Andechser Weissbier Hell is just the right thing to quench your thirst. Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure. Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full. First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste. A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

crajun (1415) - , Texas, USA - AUG 9, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2020 bottle (large one) to glass. light lemony pour. gotta say I don't get the banana in aroma and taste that others do. For some reason I seem to miss those in many of the Hefe's .... my experience was a rather straight forward beer, some light spices up front but not much stood out for me

midovark (3092) - Budapest, HUNGARY - AUG 4, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2020 Bottle at Hopa. Pours hazy, deep golden with a thicc, frothy, long lasting head. Nose is intense fruity esters and sweet grains. Taste is also sweet, showing notes of bubblegum, banana-like esters and bready malts. Closes with a long lasting sweetish finish, has a light yet full, chewy body and average carbonation. Noice.

9sandwiches (24) - Falkirk, - JUL 11, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2020 This beer came from a mixed case I ordered online and it didn’t jump out for me to try. After the first taste I was in the same frame of mind and thought ah well at least I tried it after a strong banana loaf flavour being predominant. Second taste, wow, far more depth of flavours shone through with an aftertaste of spiced cloves. Loved it.

ajnepple (11677) - Lakewood, CO, Colorado, USA - JUL 7, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2020 500 ml from Lochwood Square Liquors. Unfiltered orange appearance with a fluffy white head. Aroma of fruity yeast, banana, fresh clove, mild wheat and a light peppery spice. Similar flavor, smooth and layered with mild sweetness, a light to medium body and a refreshing finish. Well done.

unclefrito62 (1250) - Stow, Ohio, USA - JUN 4, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2020 23 ounce draft at Lizardville in Copley, Ohio. Smell sweetness and wheat. Golden in color with thin thin. Taste both the wheat and sweet this beer has to offer. Light, smooth and very drinkable. Would drink again. Cheers!

vetemannen (20) - - APR 9, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2020 Doft av citron. Guldfärgad grumlig vätska med tjockt vitt skum. Smak av banan och bröd men för mycket kolsyran tar tyvärr över mycket av smaken, svårplacerad.

Goldbarren (3535) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - APR 4, 2020
UPDATED: APR 4, 2020 Ein bayrisches Weizenbier, das wirklich gut war, wenn auch nicht besonders außergewöhnlich. EIn Bier, das auch dem erfahrenen Weizenbierfreund eine Freunde bereiten wird.

snowcrash000 (1343) - Cologne, GERMANY - MAR 22, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2020 Pours a clear at first, then turning cloudy on final pour, golden coloration with a large, foamy head and visible carbonation. Smells of doughy, bready malt and an estery spice note of clove, with lighter banana and just a hint of straw also coming through. Taste is a good balance between slightly sweet'ish doughy, bready malt, estery spice/fruit and light hoppy accents, with the clove and perhaps a hint of white pepper clearly dominating here and lighter banana notes, as well as just a hint of citrus and straw. Finishes slightly tangy with a light bitterness and some clove and banana lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. A very nice Weizen that certainly has those estery notes expected of the style, although the spice is very much dominant here, with the banana staying a bit more in the background and some light hoppy accents poking through as well. I really liked this, but even though I'm usually a big fan of Andechs I didn't really love it and I'm not sure why. Maybe the balance is a little off for my personal taste, this being somewhat sweet, maybe the body is just a touch too light, making this very refreshing but a little lacking in mouthfeel, maybe it's that certain tanginess in the finish, which may not be entirely out of character for the style but is just slightly too pronounced here, or maybe it's just that I had Weihenstephaner recently and this just doesn't live up to it. In any case, still a beer that I would happily drink again anytime, it just didn't wow me as much as I thought it might.
