Tastes like a slightly aromatic pilsner. Quite a distinct, but strange smell of probably the hops. Not fruity or fresh in any case. Disappointing.

Andechser Bergbock Hell pours a clear golden color with a white head that doesn’t sustain itself very well. On the nose, the malts have cereal and creamy, faintly vanilla-ish notes to offer. The flavor is faintly sweet cereal up front, followed by a faint vanilla and buttery-milky-creamy notes on the mid-palate if you give them some time to unfold themselves, and has a very subtle grassy hop note in the finish, in which the alcohol is very well hidden. The texture is pleasantly thick and helps to accentuate the creamy flavor. While rich and malty, this beer smells and tastes extraordinarily clean.
All of the notes, both in the nose and on the palate, are extremely subtle and will easily escape you if you don’t pay very close attention to them and they may come off as inexpressive. Nevertheless, serve it just below room temperature and - above all - be attentive, and you will definitely get some enjoyment out of Andechser Bergbock Hell.

On tap at I forget where...thinking Dunderbaks (German restaurant/taphouse) in Tampa. Lagers are hit or miss for me, which this has enough flavor and strength to make it enjoyable. Has a hazy lighter to medium yellow appearance. Little bit of grassy flavor, barley, and mild hops. I like rotating styles, but this isn't really one of my preferences.

Tap at St Michael, Oulu. Color is clear light orange with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Grain, sweetness, some hay and malts. Malty grainy sweet bock. Too sweet and honeyish for me.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20180421) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, honey and lightly malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, grain, fruitiness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A pleasant hoppy heller bock.
