The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2021 12 oz bottle shared by a friend. Pours golden amber with little to no head. Very strong nose of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, raisins, esters (alcohol) candied sugar... just a divine aroma. Incredibly sweet and alcoholic in taste... this is definitely a desert beer. But, what a mammoth beer! In fact, it seems like another kind of beverage than beer, reminding me of port or sherry, or cognac. Must be sipped to be enjoyed. Good mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Heavy, sticky and a bit cloying are the only detractors. However, a world class event is in this bottle. YUM!

UPDATED: APR 7, 2021 Bottle from Geers. Clear deep amber colour, thin layer of white foam. Nose of raisins, caramel, toffee, dried fruit. Taste is very sweet, candied fruit, vanilla. Alcoholic finish.

Jerseyislandbeer (2631) - JERSEY - MAR 24, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2021 2016 vintage 330ml bottle brought in a Dornbirn supermarket in June 2017 on my multi country road trip, cellared since in Jersey. Pours a clear brown with a small white head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, brown sugar, raisins, toffee, dark fruits, bread, nuts, hints of syrup & hints of alcohol. Medium body. Well balanced throughout. Long lingering sweet mildly alcohol finish. Very enjoyable & far better than I expected with the high alcohol reasonably well hidden

SourLove60 (83) - Pescara, ITALY - JAN 31, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2021 An aged bottle of a legendary Christmas beer. Chestnut peel color, with a very very thin ivory head. The aroma is strong, complex and pleasant, characterized by scents of molasses, ripe plums, liquor, nuts, balsamic vinegar and vague notes of bitter cocoa, mixed spices, wet topsoil and flowers. The taste is full of molasses/toffee, plums, fortified wine, walnuts, bitter cocoa, pepper, cinnamon and cloves. The body is full and rather oily, the carbonation is poor and the alcohol is present but not disturbing. Summing up, this beer is a very good product, surely not easy to drink and, possibly, characterized by some really minimal defect in the balance of flavors and body, but also very challenging, interesting and capable of giving great satisfactions, especially if left to mature in the bottle.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2021 2020 bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear deep amber. Nose is sweet malty, toffee, a hint of red fruits, liquorish sweet and heavy. Tastes very sweet, malty, honey and a hint of red fruits, toffee, boozy. Very heavy, very sweet - too much tbh; its almost like liquor. Better be shared; took me the whole evening to slowly sip this. Enjoyable but could have better drinkability.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2021 Обожаю такое пиво. Крепкое, сладкое, питкое. Янтарный цвет великолепен. Вкус на 5 баллов. Из минусов - отсутствие пенки и послевкусия

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2020 I have found this bottle, at the boissons service shop, at Prilly-Malley. After a certain time in my cellar, I have opened it for the 24th of December with my wife. The body is brown and troubled with a classical carbonation, white and brown foam. A generous beer that it is better to drink step by step with a generous note of alcohol well hidden, full body, so malty, a little smocked, sweet and toffee, a beer that you could easily eat, subtle, smooth, classical hop, at the final, boozy.

Mortlach (4250) - Rome, ITALY - DEC 24, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2020 Old bottle @home, gift from ippopotamo36 (thank you Alberto!).
