UPDATED: APR 28, 2022 Shared by drake at a tasting at my house. Dark red. Honey, currant, grape nose. Up front is a horrid in your face punch or grapes and raisins, light vanilla, then lovely raisins. Hated the front, love the finish.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2022 Bottle 1/9/22, from Woodman’s Eau Claire. Been looking for this for years so grabbed it despite the $33 price tag. Shared this at a tasting earlier and everyone was impressed, and so its nice there’s a good bit left over. Clear deep ruby red, extremely strong legs. Aroma of strong currant, grape, honey, even some oak, though I don’t think this is oak aged. Taste is sweet honey, vanilla, currant, Concord grape, raisin, booze. Full bodied and warming but very drinkable for the ABV. This is very nice.

Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #98. 500ml bottle purchased at the meadery in August, 2006, consumed in August, 2008 at my apartment at the time in Burlington, VT, from a White Winter Winery glass, beginning the tasting right out of the fridge. Lightly viscous, translucent plum color, no head (still), thick oily legs in the glass...currants, smoky caramel, honey, a light muskiness and only the faintest whiff of booze...very, very sweet, rich and port-like, currant flavor quite strong throughout...alcohol apparent but doesn’t feel anywhere near it’s true strength...slightly drier at the finish, thick and syrupy throughout but not really cloying. I did this over two days and saw no real deterioration over that time. Pretty nice stuff; about time I try some more things from this company.

Sampled from the bottle at Winter Dabbler. Pours a clear deep amber red with a bubbly head that dissipates completely. Aroma has lots of dark fruits, touch of dry honey and a decent amount of booze. Flavor is intense with syrupy dark fruits, honey and a decent amount of booze.

Smells like cough medicine and port and honey and medicine. Amber pour looks like whatever Tons of honey tangy mead fruit cake medicine oxidized notes booze. Wow hot. Shit. Tastes good I guess.

Pours the color of a nice red wine. In the bottle it smells of tar and asphalt. In the glass it’s boozy yet fruity. The flavor is high on dark berries and currants. Has a wine like sharpness and a boozy burn in the finish. Thanks Kevin it’s one I have been wanting to try.

Thanks to Kevin for the share at CCB. Nose is ethanol and berries. That’s it. With the big ABV it’s hard to find much else but I’m surprised at how well the currants stood out. Color is a dark red/purple hue that is nice as hell. Each swig was generous portions of spicy alcohol and dark red fruit with a honey finish. On the drier side but still sweet. Not bad at all.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle at White Winter Winery on Nov. 18, 2011. Rich orange pour with nose and taste of honey and black currant.

Pours a purple color with honey and red wine aroma. Flavor is somewhat light, but not offensive. Good.

Bottle. Pour was deep dark with a consistency of syrup. The black currants were very prevalent in this one. Very sweet flavors of honey, currants, spice, and a good amount of oak. It was a treat to have this. Very fine.
