hawthorne00 (6454) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 5, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 5, 2021 2020 bottle. Black with a dense light tan head that gradually fades to a cm. Coiled aroma with roast, singed caramel, mocha, berries. Creamy, only fullish bodied for 12% ABV. Sweet with chocolate and berries but that covers a bitter core of coffee, hard roast, spices and hops. That bitterness fades gradually to a point. Perhaps unusually for a hoppy US stout the hop aromatics are not juxtaposed with the rest of the beer. Delicious and harmonious but not very deep.

Learninbeer (932) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUL 24, 2021
UPDATED: JUL 24, 2021 2016 Bottle. The aroma is malts, licorice, some coffee and slight chocolate. Pours dark brown with big creamy dark tan head mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is a mild bitter, long lasting. The body is full, the carbonation average, the texture creamy and the finish long. I can see why this is rated one of the Top 50!

Pours deep brown, almost black with a large mocha brown head that has good retention and some lacing. Starts with roasted malt, dark chocolate and toffee flavors as well as having a rich, full body and slick, viscous mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with cherry, raisin and coffee flavors. Fantastic!!
