UPDATED: OCT 8, 2022 Pretty anti-climactic. Luckily it has its 8% going for it, because as smooth as this feels in the mouth, it has very little flavour.

Tap at Slowbeer, Richmond, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, liqouirce, chocolate, charcoal, light dry coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth rich oily roasty liqouirce hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2017 Bottle 330ml (Beer DeLuxe, Melbourne). Roasty, coffee in aroma. Semisweet in taste, chocolate, coffee with toast bitterness and delicate booze. Medium body, smooth, tasty.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2017 Coal black and plenty of molasses, coffee and toffee malt. Trace of vanilla but slightly too much liquorice and aniseed for my taste

Deep and dark, pours black with a dark tan solid creamy head, light aroma of coffee and chocolate, creamy texture with the flavours of chocolate, coffee and a light spice, finishing with a mellow bitter aftertaste.

Pours dark brown, mocha head. Nose is coffee, molasses, vanilla, plum, raisins. Flavor is more of the same, sweet toffee, lots of raisin and fig, coffee on the finish. Very complex and layered flavor, really delightful. You get a nice transition between the sweetness of the mid palate and the coffee notes on the end. Gorgeous, really really gorgeous.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2016 6/8/2016 - draught at Red Hill Brewery - same as comments for bottled version. 11/6/2016 - bottle- Poured an opaque black with a one-finger light tan dense foam head that retained for ages but laced poorly. Carbonation low to moderate. Aroma subtly of chocolate, roasted coffee and syrup/treacle. Taste of sweet brown sugars, roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruits and vanilla with alcohol on the back palate; low bitterness. Medium body but a little thin for the style. Smooth and creamy with a lingering subtly sweet vanilla finish that also has alcohol notes. Nice enough.
