Bottle from Pig’s Ear 2008, bottled November 2006, 4 years old
Hazy amber color; almost flat. The malt and caramel aroma is quite nice; there is also some alcohol; a bit nutty. Very sweet, caramel and malt flavor, mellow, with a nutty touch. Considering the 14%, the alcohol is quite hidden. It doesn’t show signs of age or oxidisation. As I love Barley Wines, this is a good sweet juice, even if without big complexity; the version of the following year is more complex; this one goes well if you look for sugars.

From bottle at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Orangey ginger colour. Vinous aroma with some tart, vinegary touches. Big and very boozy on the palate with lots of chewy fruit. Mouthfeel ends up quite smooth though. Interesting and quite enjoyable.

Ungstrup (42352) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2011
Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thick white head. The aroma has notes of vegetables and alcohol as well as light notes of oxidation. The flavor is sweet with notes of honey, malt, alcohol, flowers, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Thanks to ibrew2or3 for this one. A: Pours a nice golden hue with a very small head. No retention noted along with no lace. S: Lots of sweet malt aromas. Sweet fruits lead the way along with caramel and toffee. T: Malty sweetness in the flavor as well, caramel and toffee lead the way. More mild notes of apple, and booze. M: Fairly full in body, somewhat syrupy. D: Just okay. Rare brew that I am glad I got a chance to try.

Ibrew2or3 (9703) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 5, 2009
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2009 Big thanks to madmitch76 for sending this 0.33L bottle across the pond. It pours clear copper with almost no head. The aroma is thick syrupy rich chewy estery fruitiness with some sweet slick malts in there for a bit of variety. The taste is smooth rich mead like sweetness followed by loads of light and dark colored fruity estery goodness. To midway the rich sweet fruitiness is joined by a stave of earthiness and slick smooth malts. Wow, this has aged wonderfully.
