COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 65 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

Original Review on Beerpal 2010- Can you say motor oil? This is about as dark and thick as it gets. I've seen slightly thicker, but this is a black black appearance. Major chocolate and coffee malts, but the hops also stands out in this one. One of the better balanced IPSs that I've had. The aroma could have been a tad better, but wasn't quite as soy-saucey as a lot of other stouts...especially the stronger ones. I'd like to give the aroma an 8.5, but can't quite go as high as 9. Appearance is almost a perfect 10, if the lacing was just a bit heavier it would be...but based on strictly color and looks I could go a little higher than 9. This could be 4.5-4.6 overall, but I would like to sample again as well as compare it to a few other IPSs that I have to sample.....mainly World Wide Stout from DFH, which is almost twice as strong as this one. Either way though, this is a serious beer that is meant for sipping. I recommend the try.

The beer pours a solid black colour and a vigourous pour created a bubbly 1” head that receded to a thin film within a couple of minutes. The aroma is roasted malt, smoked malt, soy sauce, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is full bodied, well carbonated, and very creamy. The flavour is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and peppery spice. Maybe even a hint of coffee. The beer came with quite a reputation and it lives up to it. An excellent beer.

Barwa czarna, piana niewielka. Aromat czekolady, kawy, owoców czerwonych, karmelu i słodów palonych. W smaku gorzka czekolada, kawa, kakao. Klasycznie. Pifko gładkie, gęste, alko trochę odczuwalne. Fajne pifko.

[Confirmed this is not a barrel-aged version] Currently enjoying my second 6-month-old can of this highly-hyped brew, still pours fresh and flavorful with an aroma you can smell from three feet away, although to make a long story short I was disappointed with the boozy presence in this beer. Solid black color with dark khaki foam and ruby edges. Notes of roasted malts, maple granola, molasses, caramel, and also a vodka-like ethanol sweetness on the nose. Milk chocolate, cocoa bean, and char in the flavor, with a full-bodied palate that starts smooth but has a boozy burn in the finish. No taste of coffee or toffee that I can discern. Nice complexity overall, pleasantly warming, definitely a winter pick. Again my only criticism is that I've had higher ABV imperial stouts with less overt booziness than this. Exceptional to be sure, but I probably would not pick this up again, although I would be curious to try the bourbon barrel aged rendition.

Aromat: jest wytrawnie, czekolada gorzka, kakao, kawa, nuty palone, orzechy. Zero słodkości z wersji B.A. Dosyć surowy i prosty. 7/4/7/5/16

PREZENTACJA: czarne, piana jest brązowa, bardzo obfita, choć dość szybko opada do kołnierzyka, na ściance pozostawia niewielką koronkę;
AROMAT: rum, rodzynki, orzechy włoskie, czekolada, karmel, cukrowa pianka ;
ODCZUCIE: ciało wysokie, ciężkie, płaskie, krągłe, gładkie, solidnie rozgrzewa przełyk;
SMAK: karmel'toffi, rum, rodzynki, czekolada, orzechy włoskie, ziarno kawy, niska, dość długa kakaowa goryczka, słonawo-czekoladowy posmak;
OGÓLNIE: bardzo smaczny, słodki RIS; w ciemno określiłbym go jako imperialny porter bałtycki.

Pours motor oil thick, pitch black, with heavy, dark beige head. Aroma is heavy caramel, light chocolate and hops. Taste is chocolate and caramel, warming to heavy roast, light coffee and a strong hop backbone. Finish is smooth roast. A very good imperial stout.
