COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once, every farm in Norway was required by law to brew its own ale. All of that ale had a natural smoky taste because the malt was kilned by fire, and most of it was spiced with juniper berries. Norwegian Wood, a recreation of that traditional style, is made by the "Hand Brewery" - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale.

Saeglopur (3420) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - JAN 4, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2019 330 ml bottle, shared by Werckmeister, thanks! Copper-brown, clear body, with a big, creamy, lacing, beige, head. Aroma of smoked wood, bacon, toffee, honey, some bread, some earthy berries. Tastes quite similar, with more dry wood and the smoke even more dominating. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes quite dry, smokey, wooden, bitter, subtly sweet, a bit bready, with some earthy berries. Very nice. The nose is really lovely, with the smoke and wood notes well integrated into the sweet body. Taste is a bit too much dominated by the smoke for me, with a dry woodiness towards the finish. The nose gets more prominent as the beer warms up. Really interesting stuff overall. Score: 8 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 15

500ml bottle, from Bucket Boys. Pours a dark maroon amber with a pale beige head. Aroma: smoke, charred wood, bacon, toasted grain notes. Taste: smoked meat, charred wood, toasted grain, bacon fat, juniper flavours. Medium to full bodied. Moderate smokey bitterness that dominates the palate. This wad one of the nicest smoked beers that I have tried.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2018 Lukt: røyk, bål, salt, karamell, kaffe, svisker Smak: bål, karamell, mokka?, litt sevje, krydret Kremete, god karbonering Fin og krydret i smaken med gode brune malttoner. Fint røyka. Blir litt svak på munnfølelse. Kunne vært mere sødme/maltsmak. Har vanskeligheter med å smake einebærene. Generelt vanskelig å plukke ut smaker med røyksmak liggende over. 7,4/10 180806
