UPDATED: DEC 21, 2018 2018 bottle. Very dark brown pour with highlights and a lovely light tan head. Aroma of smoky bacon, caramel, bread, and a flavour that perhaps leans caramel-fronted but follows the aroma. Everything nicely in check. I wished it was a bit fuller in taste and feel as first, but appreciated it as an immensely drinkable brew, smooth low-carb feel, and handles like a 5%. UPDATED: DEC 14, 2018 2018-12-07. Crisp brown body, modest beige head. 3+ Aroma is relatively subtle, earthy malt and subtle smoke character. Flavour is similar, lightly smokey throughout, lightly earth malt base. Smooth average weave to light bodied palate, soft carbonation. Nose is caramel, banana, smoked ham, smoked grains, smoked meat, smoked cheese, roasted and toasted grains. Taste is caramel, smoked ham sausage, smoked cheese, lactose milkiness, really fab beer. Taste comprises toffee, smoked malts, bonfire, fruit loaf, spice.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.

Take out draft from CBM Koenji. Deep, rich brown with a small, half-finger of cappuccino-colored head. Nice light smoked bacon nose with some cacao, roasted malt and toasted caramel. Full body with a rich and creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well-hidden with medium carbonation. Nice creamy, rich finish that lingers. Wonderful beer.
