In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Ej, naprawdę niezłe, nie spodziewałem się. Aromat brettowo-czerwonowinny, w smaku brzoskwinie, śliwki i inne owoce. Przyjemnie się pije, co jest rzadkością w Belgii xD

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2018 Aroma of plum, orange and flowers. Appearance is clear amber with a white head. Taste is rich, fruitcake, plum, raisen, syrup, orange, with a spicy bitter aftertaste. Palate is high carbonation but very fine bubbles, almost frothy in the mouth which slightly spoils it for me.

Aroma: strong floral notes, almost like perfume, spicy, caramel, there's some influence of hops too, I think. Taste: suprisingly strong hoppy bitterness. Beer has copper color, head is big, carbonation is extremely lively, beer wants to escape from mouth.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2018 Purchased at Belgo for £5.95, Orval is a Trappist Ale crafted by Brasserie D’Orval. The smell of Belgian yeast, citrus, and spices are noted as you drink. The appearance is an amber hue with a large beige head that slowly grows after the pour. The alcohol content is 6.2%. The citrus bite and feel of lemon is ventured right out of the gate. Orange compliments the lemon and emblazons the mouthfeel. When you lick your chops, orange is faintly picked out. Belgian yeast makes the body creamy. Malted barley blends with the body and broadens the Belgian yeast character. Cumin spice is easily recognizable in the dry, slightly funky finish. Clove is constant with the yeast and citrus feel. Orval is a splendid Trappist Ale. The malted barley, lemon, orange, and cumin complexion makes this Belgian beer stand out from a crowded Belgian craft beer market. The dry and funky finish accented by the cumin spice is my favorite part to the drink. I loved each drink I took. Beautifully complex, Orval can keep any consummate beer lover engaged. Cheers. Prost. UPDATED: MAY 27, 2018 The beer is woody brown and quite cloudy. A stack of large bubbles on the top on pouring (perhaps a little too quickly!) which quickly dissipate. In the mouth, a very good balance of acidity and fruit with a heavy emphasis on dry, almost maderised textures. This is followed by a long bitter aftertaste. A very good beer but one I always struggle with: I can't think of an occasion when I might want something like the and but not choose a Duval instead since that, for me, has an extra 10% of complexity.

Bottle 330 ml from Wine Rack, Turnham Green. Aromas are sweet and plummy with notes of peach, flowers, some orange and spices at first, with spices coming up later (pepper, cumin and clove, possibly?). Quite pleasant aroma. Pours a murky date-brown body with a large cream-white head. Taste is rich and fruity with plum, raisin, syrup and orange. Leaves a bitter aftertaste of dark fruit and peppery spiciness. Very pleasant beer!

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2018 Ale Belga. Color oscuro, fuerte aroma y buena espuma. Lo mejor que he probado hasta ahora

bilcho1 (442) - Ruse, BULGARIA - MAY 17, 2018
330ml bottle at a private tasting at Za razBIRAchi, Ruse. Pours thickly hazy with a thick fomay, almost mousse head, very heavy lacing, no visible rising carbonation. Pale amber in colour. On the nose, estery yeast aromas predominate, with hints of apricot. In the mouth, very high carbonation, a dry soapy texture, low bitterness, some metallic fruit flavours, slight sourness, a touch of sweetness. Medium length finish. Overall, despite its almost legendary status, it just doesn't feel good in the mouth.
