UPDATED: NOV 6, 2023 On tap at Floodcraft in downtown San Jose. Deep black color. Fine dense dark foam clings to the glass. Quite roasty and bitter: I like it. Medium dryness.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2021 Light roasty chocolate malty bready aroma Pours a very dark brown with creamy tan head. Strong roasted malt character with slight char and coffee roast with dark chocolate. Medium bodied with medium co2, lingering burnt roast character. Enjoyable heavily roasted dark lager.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2020 Poured from a 16 oz can dated October 15, 2020. Aroma is malt forward with loads of roast and lighter chocolate notes. Light toasted bread, caramel and toffee notes. Light herbal, spicy hop notes and a hint of alcohol. Pours black with a medium large, thick, pillowy, dark tan head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderately strong roast notes and lighter chocolate, caramel and toffee notes. Hints of ash and leather. Medium to medium high bitterness and hints of alcohol. Light spicy, herbal hop notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid dark lager. A bit bigger and bolder than the standard dark lager, but it works pretty well. I think I prefer Death & Taxes more than this, but it's still really good.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2020 Can care of Michael, thanks man, this came just in time for Halloween. Char, ultra roasted malts, bitter hops, tobacco, coffee, and clean fermenting lager yeast. Nice D&T variant.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2020 can. Pours clear reddish black, large creamy tan head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is roast, hints of smoke, ash, leather, tobacco. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter, hint of smoke, super roasty. Medium body, lingering bitterness. Nice

Black. Thick head. Chocolate nose, nice toasty dark malts. Bigger than DBT, with a bit of alcohol coming out and a lot of dark malt complexity.

Sample at Monk’s Kettle. Flat black color with a medium thin beige head that recedes steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing. Roast malt, coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium body with flavors of charred malt, coffee and mild hops. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Tap at Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is smooth, chocolaty, malty. Med + body. Flavor is smooth, earthy chocolaty malt. It’s nicely bitter.

This pours a darker brown with a light tan head. Good notes of cocoa, some hints of butterscotch, roasted malt, toasted dark bread.
