English summary: The winning beer at Swedish homebrewing championships brewed full scale at Nynäshamns Ångbryggeri by the winner, Charles Cassino. The jury compared the beer to Johnny Cash with it’s masculine raw blackness.

Backlog rating from RBESG 2008, grand tasting: Dark cloudy brown, creamy brown head. Light roast aroma, light pine, a hint wood. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Draught @ Bishops Arms Järntorget. Pours dark borwn, almost black, with a small frothy gray head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with cookies, banana bread, dry wood, toffee, coffee, cocoa powder and hints of barnyardesque hay. Taste is sweet and malty with sweet bread, dark grapes, dry wood, roasted malts, burnt cookies, leather, coffee hard candy and hints of glue. Mouthfeel is soft, round, smooth and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with cocoa powder, toasted malts, wood, sweetened coffee and dark bread. Balanced, nice and has held up pretty well during the years. Not in any way an imperial stout though.

Draught, 2007, at BAJT porter week 2012. Black with a light brown head. Aroma: sweet licorice, chocolate. Taste licorice and salmiak, chocolate. This is not a heavy beer, but it has handled the cellaring well.

Thanks to Omhper for this nice gift at my quick visit at Stockholm. Very dark brown color with a thin beige foam. Aroma is complexed, notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee and roasted malt. Flavor is kind a sweet bitterness, nots of roasted malt, vanilla and coffee. Mouthfeel is long with a sweet bitterness as well. Good beer.
