UPDATED: NOV 18, 2021 There is a big, persistent head on the pour. I tasted compote and plum. it is pretty rich, but not over the top. A well-balanced brew. max317 (25) - - AUG 1, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2021 Very good - not too heavy, a bitter taste at first but finishes malty and clean. I like it! MNAle (618) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 30, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2021 Sweet aroma. Toffee and figs.
Clear dark ruby with bubbles (visible with a backlight) rising to a 1/2 inch off-white-to-tan head with relatively short retention. Thick lacing lines the glass.
The taste does repeat the flavors from the aroma, toffee and figs, but more assertively and with more complexity. There's an earthiness, a peatiness, a very slight bittering in the initial taste that retains throughout, but fades in the aftertaste. Bready malts make their contribution. The beer is a bit on the sweet side, but not overly so.
Mouth feel has a moderate body with a restrained carbonation. Creamy.
Overall, this is an easy-drinking, tasty scotch ale. Perhaps not as substantial in the body as some of the more modern examples of the style, but a nice traditional example. I only just this evening had this beer for the first time, so I can't comment on whether it has changed. I can say, though, that it seems to have come through the jumble of owners and brewing locations as a very nice scotch ale.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2021 330 ml bottle. Pours a reddish brown with moderate bubbly head. Aromas of metallic toasted malts, dry caramel, and grass. Flavors follow same, with additional raisins and more metallic malts. Some sweetness. Nice for the style DruncanVeasey (10318) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 24, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2020 330ml from that offie next to GF Isabel, Areja, Tenerife- drank back home, 08/04/20. Honey amber with a low head. Unprepossessing caramel, disinfectant and tissue paper aroma. Industrial, thin and disinfectant flavoured with salvaging attempts at toffee and liquorice. Some vegetables on the nose. Not terrible but rudimentary, old school, cheap and crap.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2019 This is really getting to be irritating. I've reviewed this beer a number of times before and they keep forgetting or losing the reviews. I hate to have to renounce this great sight but I don't understand why they're messing with me. This is a great beer by the way, real classic, although not quite as outstanding as my memory serves me
