mice (3145) - Espoo, FINLAND - JUL 3, 2023
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2023 On tap @ Blue Lagoon. Clear golden beer with medium head. Typical bulk lager, nothing special, but clean though.

Braudog (8838) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - MAY 29, 2023
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2023 Can. Maybe the most widely available beer in Iceland (alongside Viking), this of course is the least appealing to beer nerds like me. Super pale, virtually tasteless, a sipper for the masses. Standard light lager. (#8568, 5/2023)

thejackpacker (2953) - East Sussex, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2022
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2022 Keg at Geosea spa, Husavik. Instantly there was some kind of pure yet volcanic taste to the beer. But otherwise standard macro. Fine.

3.4
Gerbeer (7221) - Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 1, 2022
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2022 On tap. Pours a clear amber with moderate head. Aromas of cereal, honey, and a bit of corn. Flavors follow same. Malty and somewhat sweet. Easy to drink. Certainly not offensive.

mikkellund42 (1949) - DENMARK - DEC 26, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2021 Can. Pours clear golden with medium white head. Aroma is malt, grass and lemon. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter and light to medium acidic. Body is watery with sparkling carbonation. Finish is short and mostly sweet with notes of green malt, grassy hops and lemon.

MarcoDL (9594) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 25, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 25, 2021 Draft. Aroma and taste is actually like most lagers, with grainy malt, lager yeast and subtle grassy hops. But after a long active day this is very tasty with a big hamburger. I like it.

Piepenhenrich (3428) - Oberursel, GERMANY - AUG 1, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2021 On tap in Grindavík, Iceland. Clear golden with a thin white head that dilapidates quickly. Has a nice citrus flavor to it, otherwise it’s a Lager, minimal bitterness.

2.6
Jerseyislandbeer (4844) - JERSEY - JAN 13, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2021 Old rating from 08-03-15 - 330ml bottle brought back from Iceland. Pours amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of citrus, lemon, grass, earth, bread, cereals, grain & malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish. Slightly below average at home, much more enjoyable in Iceland.

GarrettB (2459) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 2, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2020 'm abroad, and traveling, and looking for far flung beer to sample. But Iceland is a very, very hostile place for the shallow-pocketed American to sample beer. The stuff is restricted entirely to a few bars and state owned stores, and when one can find it, the prices are astronomical (much like everything else in the country) but I suspect there is an added bit of guilt-tax added to alcohol here. Whatever the cause, I am shy to shell out $16 for a pint of beer without the typical guarantee that comes with that price that the beer might change my life. However, way down at the macro end is something more affordable - Gull, available at small grocers here and there, and basically everywhere else. Proudly made with Icelandic barley, it is a simple beer, a mass market can of suds to slake an older generation's taste. As a macro lager it conforms to the normal set of expectations, clearing food out from the gullet, offering a light, pleasing taste, and is generally inoffensively sweet. But it is a pale lager, and strains to capture my attention, and so I use it as a research aid, sipping at the end of the day as I scour for new geysers and mountains to examine later in the vacation. This seems to be Iceland's mass brewery beer of choice. They don't lack for craft choice, but this has the same level and intensity of advertising as Coors or Budweiser around the streets, here.
