0.5l bottle. Pours in deep black brown colour with large off white head. Aroma of cereal, dough, light coffee. Medium sweet, low bitterness, no sourness. Light body, short lasting sweet and burned aftertaste, average carbonization

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2018 Quite good. Pours pitch black with a bit if a white/brown head. The head is nothing exceptional but it isn’t bad either. The body is pretty diverse, hints of chocolate and coffee plus a host of other flavors I couldn’t quite pick out; all these flavors mix perfectly without any muddling, and change slightly as you work your way through the drink. In the end I would get it again, pairs well with meat and German food.

Draught @ Malt & Mold. Opaque dark brown with creamy beige head, roasted malt aroma, high carbonation, mildly bitter, slightly tangy malt taste, smooth body, long roasted malt finish. Smooth and easy to drink.

This was so up my street, I love a rich, dark beer. I expected it to be like the Köstritzer schwarzbier, but it is even better, in my opinion, with more depth. It pours and smells like an old-time Guinness from my youth, and it tastes like it too, but finer in all ways. It smells--to wax lyrical for a moment--like the Simonds/Courage brewery yard I used to walk past as a boy. To my surprise, this is quite a stouty brew, with a thick mouthfeel and strong chocolaty and coffeeish notes. But none of the lactose or added sugars and oats you get in some stout styles, because this is a Purity Law beer, made just of barley malt, hops, yeast, and water. The carbonation is finely judged, saving the mouthfeel from viscosity--though once the fizz abates, there's a treacly moment on the back end. To be honest, this is what I dream of when I pick up a dark pint. Maybe it does nothing new, but it does the oldest things just right. Proper beer.

the aroma is caramel and herbal with hints of grain, toffee, buckwheat and grasses... the taste is caramel and fruity with notes of black bread, toffee, grain, buckwheat, straw and some herbs... sweet and dry aftertaste...

500ml bottle from the shop, drunk at home. Pours clear, but dark and almost opaque with a thin fast-settling frothy beige head, minimal lacing, some bead. Dark brown, almost black, with no real redness. Little aroma at first, but after a while, some smoke and treacle emerge. Quite lively in the mouth with higher than average carbonation. Not much flavour is released in the mouth, maybe hints of molasses underscored by caramelized malt. Watery. A great balance between sugar and bitterness. Overall, a bland schwarzbier, but not terrible.

Butelka 500ml. Czarny kolor z delikatnym rubinowym refleksem. Piana średnia, beżowa o drobnych pęcherzach. Moje miało 4.7%. w aromacie pieczywo razowe, karmel i palone słody. W smaku dość wodniste lecz nadal wyczuwalny: karmel, skórki chlebowe, palony słód,trochę lukrecji. Niezłe lecz bez treści

Aromat delikatny mokrego kartonu, warzywny aromat, lekko słodki i karmelowy, trochę miodu i aromatu pieczonego chleba.
