muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 31, 2016
Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #78. 473 ml can purchased at some nameless or at least forgotten LCBO in the Toronto area, drunk at my parents’ house in August, 2008. No pop, not a hint of fizz when the can is opened...and no head whatsoever topping the dark hazy body...this is all wrong...well, it doesn’t smell quite as bad as it looks, but the raisin-caramel nose is not something that says "lager" to me, and there’s a hint of spoilage here...dull, faint grassy hops do make an appearance in the soggy-light-malty body, but you have to work to determine that they’re there, and in the nearly flat, syrupy yet thin body that you have to deal with, it’s not worth the effort. I had forgotten how low the quality of much commercially-available Ontario beer was (in 2008 - hopefully some improvements since?) until re-reading these notes.

I tried this lager for the first time this week and found it to resemble the Czech beers, not the lighter German lagers like Kölsch. In other words it’s a bit bitter. No problem at all for me but you should be aware of that if you decide to buy a lot of it. (I bought it at the brewery in Neustadt. A bit expensive, $2.75 per 473 ml can, and no cheaper if you buy a dozen as I did.) A nice alternative to Canadian beers but Czech Pilsners are more readily available around here.

2013/03/09 - Pours a dark gold color with a sticky white head. Aroma is grass, sweet malts, apple and slight hops. Taste is mainly grass with some fruity notes and a slight bitterness. Thin mouthfeel with low carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

473ml can. Pours a deeper saffron yellow (Lovibond 7). Giant head melts to sticky lace. Really rank - I hate to say it.... Vomit. Smells of bile. It's not overwhelming, but it's there. The taste was surprising... I expected a sharpness but it actually more sweet like fruit and balanced with a grapefruit bitterness. Not bad, if you plug your nose! Palate is watery and low carbonation.

can. Gold colour. Aroma of grains, hay, grass. Light hops. Crisp and refreshing.

Bendrixian (1515) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 22, 2011
on tap at c’est what. clear and has almost a heavy orange colour. aromas of malts, ceral grain, hay stack but very quiet.Crisp palata, more sweet notes and a light finish. boring brew.

Ontbeertaster (2360) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 27, 2011
smelt lightly hopped and tasted ok, it had a grassy finish and malt under tone, it was a little grainy as well. Overall not bad, would drink again

Golden pour with a fast fading head. The aroma is quite malty. Clean lagered aroma and a bit of sweetness. Fairly hoppy as well, although it is there more as bitterness rather than as aroma additions. It’s pretty inoffensive and almost pleasant.

Metalchopz (4977) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 26, 2011
Pours a golden colour with a slight amber hue. Big frothy mildly off-white head with great retention and bubbly lace. Slow tiny bubble carbonation. Hoppy nose, well-balanced with the malt and yeast that reminds me of bread. Hints of bananas also stand out. Lightly-bodied with a refreshing crisp mouthfeel, but a little stickiness in the finish. Slightly hazy at the last pour. Mild hop bitterness appears in the taste and the malt comes to soften it. A good-looking lager that is above-average.

DuffMan (10981) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 7, 2010
Can, shared with Rockley in an Ontario lager taste-off. Nice looking amber hued gold, lasting white head. Nicely toasted husky grains, dry slightly bitter finish.
