Tap at the Berkeley venue. Pours very dark brn/blk (cola?) with a creamy tan head. Med + body or better. Flavor is smooth burnt/toasted malt with a solid dose of espresso. Not spectacular, but very solid espresso brew. Finishes quite earthy, not to mention espresso.

Bottle. Aroma of coffee, roasted grains, and some nutty notes. Pretty good coffee stout taste, but nothing wildly exciting.

Donker bier, dun bruinig schuim. Ruikt naar chocola en koffie. Suus vind naar sigaretten. Smaakt idd naar sigaretten helaas, bah.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/24/2015. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, vanilla, cream, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, vanilla, cream, light char, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly bready/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice coffee stout. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

All the brewers at Pyramid need to do is boost the alcohol content, and I would have a new favorite local(ish) beer.

A nice all around stout. Pours a not so thick black with a tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is thin, but sweet with lots of vanilla and a slightly bitter espresso finish. Had on tap at the Brewery for SF Beer Week.

Toasty and bitter with notes of chocolate and coffee. Pretty thin for a stout; while this makes the beer extremely drinkable, it also seemed to reduce the overall experience for me. Not a bad brew to have over breakfast!

Holy crap! I have just found my new favorite brew for in the morning. This tastes just like an espresso but with carbonation. Found this in a sampler but want to find this in a 1/2 barrel keg to keep around the house on tap. Drank the bottles in the sampler but would also like to try this with eggs and bacon tomorrow morning. Would also go good with pancakes, biscuts and gravy, and even cereal. Why is it all the best beers are so dang hard to get?!?!?! Oh, wait, I know the answer to that... The distributors in my area suck ass!

Not a lot to say about this it definitely fits the category of an espresso stout but nothing really stood out for me about it. Solid and drinkable but nothing too memorable for me.

Nice espresso stout. Surprisingly unrobust. Real nutty bark like flavors, but somehow still tastes light. Not too thick. Pours nice colors like Guinness.
