UPDATED: NOV 10, 2023 Wernesgruner Pils is a very good German pils & true to the region, being lower eastern Saxony. Wernesgrun, Germany is close to the Czech border, not far from Pilzen (where the style originated), and close to the Saaz Hop growing region - the hop of pilsners. I have been to the brewery in Wernesgrun. Great biergarten too. It is NOT cheap beer & the same price as most in Germany - more expensive than some. We get it reasonably because Aldi is a German company & has the US contract. The pils is good but their better beer is their 'Landbier 1436' lager (available only in Germany so far). The parent company is now Carlsberg, but the brewery is where it always was in Wernesgrun & they draw soft 'brewing water' from a natural spring in an adjacent 'preserve'. Cheers. The half-liter cans are standard in Germany.

Mr.Spooks (4970) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 5, 2023
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2023 Just not a lot here. Minor notes of crisp malt and a slight floral bitterness, but mostly a boring mass-produced Euro pils. Bleh.

ectuohy27 (1784) - ????, UKRAINE - JUL 24, 2023
UPDATED: JUL 24, 2023 4x 16.9 oz cans, Aldi Virginia (listed as brewed in Hamburg, not Saxony). Bone-dry astringency that gets worse as the brew warms up, not particularly good nor refreshing alas

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2023 Wyprawa Berlin. Wypite, krótka ocena bez szczegółowych wrażeń. Normalnie też można pić piwo bez zastanawiania ;)

degbert (1824) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 10, 2023
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2023 Big ol' tall boy can. I don't know why I think this, but if there's a German equivalent of Lone Star tall boys, this might be it. Pours beer colored. Has a beer-like head. Is reasonably tasty, especially when you factor in the cheap price. (I paid $6 for four tall boys). It's decent drinkin' beer -- there is nothing special or outstanding to it, but given the price it doesn't need to be.

hershiser2 (8159) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - APR 16, 2023
UPDATED: APR 16, 2023 500 ml can, Aldi. I'd like an IPA, but I have none, so cheap swill it is. This was leftover form Dilek's 4-pack. Clear gold with a white head. Ya know, this smells like it might hit the spot. Grassy, bready, light metallic notes, but nothing off-putting. Grasses, light rice, dried flowers, light glue. Not half-bad, but my palate is currently way off...
