3.2 Griesedieck Brothers Jubilee On tap. It poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma was of bananas, citrus and grass. The taste was similar to the aroma with more bananas, citrus, grass, mellowness with medium carbonation and a nice smooth after taste. Not bad. Wednesday, March 8, 2023

3.4 Griesedieck Brothers Jubilee Pour is a cloudy yellow with a loud fizzy white head. Aroma is pretty much all spicy coriander. Flavor is another heavy dose of coriander with some wheat malt and some bubblegum sweetness. This was a pretty decent witbier. Saturday, February 25, 2023

3.6 Griesedieck Brothers Double Mellow 1880 Session Porter Pour is a near black with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is a nice almost chicory like char with some coffee. Flavor is pretty much the same nice roasty char with a minor coffee left on the tongue. This was pretty good. For such a low abv beer this had a nice thick body with pleanty of roasted malt. 3 Griesedieck Brothers Double Mellow Standard American Amber Lager Pour is a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is bready malt but with a touch of caramel. Flavor is more of the same bready malt a little caramel but is more dry than sweet. Decent, a little more malt flavor then the usual lager but not a lot of flavor to begin with. 3.2 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Bottle pour from Total Wine & More, Brentwood. Appearance is lightly hazy yellow-light brown with nice sparkle, thin cap of off-white head quickly fading to a ring with no lacing. Aroma is wheat cracker, mild tart fruit(?). Taste is rich wheat, mild clove, hint of banana. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a serviceable representative of the style but not terribly strong in any facet. A good alternative to a macro. Friday, July 17, 2020

2.8 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Bad corn like aroma. Macro appearance. Tastes refreshing with a very German hop profile. It was okay, I wasn’t expecting a mind blowing experience. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Monday, February 12, 2018

2.8 Griesedieck Brothers Mild Pale Ale Indicated as a dry-hopped English pale ale. Served from draft as pint appearing amber color with little head. Aroma consists of caramel malt and subtle earthy hoppiness. The palate is mild, low fizz, and possess flavors that are equal parts rust and toasted bread. It's so-so, yet drinkable. 2.8 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now. Pours a very nice looking glass of beer. Pale golden with a nice fluffy white head, not much lace to speak of, but that’s just fine. The aroma is metallic & has some corn flake notes to it... It has some doughiness and a light malt character but gracious it reminds me a lot of the pilsners I pick up at random from eastern European groceries.... uh oh. The flavor is much better than the aroma, it’s not dry but it’s not overly sweet, thankfully the breakfast cereal sweetness is pretty faint in the flavor. It’s a little bit hoppy with a light herbal bite. The corniness is pretty low, but noticeable. I’d drink it again. Thursday, June 26, 2014

4 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Tasted at St. Louis Brewer’s Guild Heritage Fest 2014 in a cool nonic sampler glass. This was the biggest surprise of the night for me, coming from a brewery I had always overlooked but was one of the most delicious beers of all. It poured a cloudy yellow colour with sudsy white foam and lace. Grainy, grassy, faint black pepper and clove, STRONG banana esters the way I love Weizenbier. Smooth bready mouthfeel with a nice dry hoppy finish. Well-balanced and 100% true-to-style. Keep up the great work, guys! Wednesday, June 18, 2014

3.3 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat The color of this beer is hazy golden with a medium white head, and the aroma is a mixture of grass hops, wheat, and earthy yeast. The taste is mildly sour and a touch sweet, and the mouthfeel combines a medium body, soft carbonation, sour finish, and a slick texture. Overall, this beer is solid, but isn’t anything remarkable. 3.3 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Pours a cloudy pale gold color with a finger off white head. Aroma of banana, honey, wheat, clove. Same of flavor with wheat and cereal too. Medium to light bodied. Really easy to drink, and very refreshing - always a dangerous combo when Uncle Rick is out on the town. Good German beer from St. Louis, though brewed in Wisonsin. 3 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Drank two draft pints at Balducci’s in a frosty mug. A grassy, refreshing, true-to-style pilsner. Nice husky grain and noble hop impression, slight chalk, light white bread mouthfeel, spritzy carbonation. Perhaps a small percentage of corn adjunct, but not in a flawed way. Delicious with St. Louis-style pizza. Thursday, September 6, 2012

2.1 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Sent to me by Strykzone in a trade. Poured a dingy orange with little head. Nose of cloves and yeast. Light body. Acrid mouthfeel. Flavor is "off" with a weird sourness that overwhelms everything else. Banana finally shows in finish. This bottle may well have been mishandled after leaving the brewer as other ratings show this to be quite acceptable. Thursday, July 12, 2012

3 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener 12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a hazy golden yellow with 2 fingers of white head. Heavy aroma of hops and some light grain. Taste is lightly bitter. Kinda skunky. Nice hop taste though. Medium bodied with a thick yet slick texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad. Kinda pricey for an average beer though. I would drink it again, if I could find it for 6 bucks per 6er instead of 10. Wednesday, October 12, 2011

3.3 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head that fades to just a bit of lacing. Aroma is primarily of fresh grain with traces of fruit and sweetness. Fresh grain taste with a mild trace of banana and citrus. Has a touch of bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly medium body, crisp and refreshing. Nice beer for the style. Much better than I expected. A solid kick back and relax beer. Friday, July 8, 2011

3.8 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Pours a dark gold. Has a fruity aroma to it, a bit of bubblegum. Has a light banana flavor to it. More subdued than most hefes. Needs more bubblegum & banana but definitely one I could drink at least 3 of in a session. Tuesday, July 5, 2011

2.1 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat 12 oz. bottle. This pours an orange brown with no head in the tulip glass. The nose is yeast, cloves, and cloves and could be more genuine. The flavor could use some work, too. Powdery dried figs, bananas, and tangerines. Spices that are almost Fall but don’t get there.A sourness permeates that puckers and clashes with the sweetness. Some beers just should not be put into production and this is one of them. Sunday, July 3, 2011

3.2 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Pour hazy yellow / orange with a nice sized white head. The aroma has bubblegum, candied banana, cloves and what seems like plastic or band aids. Medium body that’s a bit slick and it has frothy carbonation. The flavor starts with a fake-ish banana flavor, brown sugar, cloves and a fully wheatiness. The finish is sweet and plasticy. A fair hefe, but it is better than most in the lower end price range. Tuesday, June 21, 2011

3.4 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Sample poured from a 12 oz. bottle at St. Louis Microfest 2011. Pours a nice, dull, cloudy gold color with a finger-thick white head. Looks unfiltered to me. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, sweet malts, honey, wheat, clove, and a grassy, earthy note that overwhelms the other hefeweizen notes just a bit. This smooths out in the flavor, which brings banana, sweet malts, honey, clove, dough, wheat, and cereal. Medium-bodied, with a chewy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Really nice German hefeweizen and a good sipper. Monday, May 9, 2011

3.1 Griesedieck Brothers Bavarian-Style Wheat Pours a semi-cloudy deep golden with a substantial fluffy white head that diminishes somewhat, but sticks around. Not really cloudy enough to carry the "unfiltered" description, at least compared to a Bavarian hefe-weizen. Aroma is sweet malt and clove. Taste primarily clove and banana along with the sweet liquor of the malts. Not much hoppiness at all. A pretty good rendition of the style, at least compared to most American wheat ales, but not exceptional. Refreshing and well balanced, though. Thursday, March 17, 2011

3 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Sample at The Royale in St. Louis as part of "The Funk" Tuesday beer tasting. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin white head that burns away to a film eventually. Thin strings of lacing. Mildly spiced hops aroma that has some grainy malt notes. Light body with flavors of bready malt, grain and herbal hops. The finish is sweet and grainy with a short mild hops aftertaste. Just average overall. Sunday, July 25, 2010

2.8 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Draft pint at The Royale. Pours a clear yellow-gold, a sharp color, with a solid, two-finger thick white head that dissipates into a small, lasting cap. Aroma of grassy hops, corn, sweet pale malts, honey, and straw. Flavor follows suit pretty well, grassy and grainy, with honey sweetness. Light-bodied, with active but soft carbonation and a grassy mouthfeel. They did a nice job on this style overall. Easy-to-drink, sessionable, and skunk-free. Thursday, July 1, 2010

3.1 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener A pale yellow pour with white head. It has a grainy malt aroma with some light citrus notes. 2.9 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Chill hazed dark straw color with a small but stable cm. of white smaller bubbles. Doughy aromas. Flour, light yeast , bit of floral hops. Sweeter flavors. A hot cereal taste, with cream of wheat and malt-o-meal coming to mind. A bit of corn comes to mind as well. Light honey and and grass to herbal hops in the middle and finish. LIght sweet grains in the linger. Seems more like a kolsh. Sunday, October 18, 2009

2.9 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Sampled during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden pale yellow brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film. Aroma of golden grain malt, a hint of grassy hops and some honey. Taste is light to medium bodied, flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of honey and corn. Finish has a short grassy hop bitterness then a crisp, clean cut aftertaste. Sunday, August 30, 2009

3.3 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener I have to agree with a previous rater. This brew is under-rated. We need to remember to rate against others of the same style and not prejudice against styles that are not our favorites. Sampled 2 years ago at a small pub in St. Louis, I found this to be a noteworthy domestic pils in the company of Victory and Stoudt. On draft, it pours a pale bright golden with a robust white head that diminishes some but continues to ring the glass as you consume. Crisp, clean taste of pale malt sweetness, fresh bread and a light hop bitterness. Some grassiness as well. This is a delicious summer thirstquencher true to the style as originally intended in the 19th Century. Friday, May 29, 2009

2.8 Griesedieck Brothers Golden Pilsener Golden and somewhat cloudy. Small white head that leaves decent lacing. Plenty of carbonation is visible. Aroma is Saaz hops, honey and grain. Flavor is dry and is grainy with malt, spice, and honey. The finish leaves a dry hop bitterness and is creamier. Monday, May 11, 2009
