33cl bottle at Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse, Sydney on 22-Feb-2017. Clear pale amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of grain and sweet malt. Light body and medium carbonation. Taste of sweet maly, pine and cereal. Light bitter hop profile but sweet lagerish.

330ml bottle into lager glass. Bought at Bowral hotel. Amber beer with a clingy fluffy white head. Lots of tiny bubbles. Smells of grain and malt. Good body, bitter at first then malt takes over. Lingering grain late on. Definitely leans towards a pils more than a lager. Not bad, certainly good in hot weather.

Bottle. Poured a filtered copper hue. Nice sparkling carbonation, although poor head retention. Thought this beer had a bitter dry finish. Not great

Pigs Fly Pale Ale
330ml bottle into glass. Faint hop nose, a touch vegetal. Sparkling golden beer with frothy lasting head. A few bubbles. Spritzy mouthfeel, fairly straightforward taste. Aspirin bitter finish with a touch of lemon. Not one I’d repeat.

Appears coppery orange in colour with a minimal head, fine carbonation and a touch of haze. Aroma dwells on the malt profile, offering satisfying coppery biscuitiness and some orange peel coming from the malt. Prickly carbonation in the mouth before a surge of oranges and some spruce bitterness. It lacks a little in body, but I suppose would be a good session pint. Likeable enough.

330ml stubbie. BB 25/Jul/13. Poured a clear but uninspiring pale amber with a thin white foamy head that diminished quickly and laced poorly. Moderate carbonation seen by small bubbles forming trails. Aroma not much, may be a hint of hops. Taste initially nothing then followed by an unpleasant yeast taste - not nice. Low bitterness. Light body bordering on watery. An unpleasant sour yeast finish.

Hope that the recipe has changed since earlier ratings otherwise I must be getting soft in my ratings. Bit of a let down in the looks department but this pleasant offering made up for it in what is most important. It produces a sparkling yellow gold and donned by a paper thin sheet of white. The carbonation very sluggish, fine and intermittent. Pleasant, ripe citrus and tropical fruit on the nose over just a touch of grass and palest grains - very fresh, very clean. Nice, grainy malt profile gives it a little depth over those dominant fruity hops. Medium bitterness, crisp and short in the finish but residually sweet so drinking this chilled is highly recommended. Light bodied with very lively carbonation. Honeydew and grapefruit comes to mind with a lingering lychee note on the tongue. Overall a refreshing number; I thought this was a decent Summer quaffer. (33cL, BB 25/07/13, Liquor Baron’s Hillarys)

Cheers Jack. Clear amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Light palate, semi dry and a little crisp. Light lagerish malt - a bit papery. Super mild citrus. Semi dry finish. Just about passes muster.

Bottle, thanks to Jackl. It pours clear amber with a small off-white head. The nose is earth, light floral, malty, umami aspect and smoked ham. The taste is earth, toast, brown bread, decent bitterness, some underlying sweetness, metal and faint spice with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. So-so at best.

Bottle @ Bruce’s. Cheers to a generous co-worker who brought this back from Oz. The pour’s dee gold with a tiny head. THe nose is graham cracker sweetness. General grains and honey. Only a hint of mild hops. White bread. The taste is more of the same. Sweetened bready body, a bit of caramel. Softly hoppy finish. Pretty inoffensive stuff that’d be fine to kill at a barbecue. Overall, a decent beer. Sort of tastes like a bridge beer for craft converts.

Pigs Fly Pale Ale
A pleasant aroma of butter, peaches, malt and hints of citrus got me excited about this beer, only to let me down in the tasting. The palate is a little weak with very little of the malt body promised by the nose. There’s a moderate amount of grapefruit that gives this beer a refreshing Summer taste but it’s ultimately a little disappointing.

From a 330ml bottle on 14/1/2012. Pours a clear pale yellow with a small head. Has a modest grainy aroma. The flavour is sweet malt and a touch of citrus. For a pilsener, it has a disappointing hop profile. Just barely better than bog standard macro pale lager.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/11/2010. Has a moderate grassy citrus fruit aroma. Taste wise, it’s relatively bland, with some sweet malt up front, a bit of citrus fruit, and a moderate hop finish. I’m a little disappointed, as I recall trying this some time ago and thinking it was quite good. Just a shade more interesting than a typical premium lager. Rating 2.4. Re-rate on 17/11/2012. Tasted significantly better this time round, with much more pronounced fruit and malt notes.

Maybe it is because this beer is no longer brewed in Bowral. I remember when I first tried this and loved it. ... the second time round I was certain it was a different beer all together. Completely lost flavour. Very dissappointing.

330ml bottle. Dark amber in colour with a disappointing veil of faint white bubbles that try to pass themselves off as foam and struggle to stretch across the surface. Smells a whole lot better than it looks with floral and citrus aroma’s. Good body and mouthfeel and a nice taste - okay but not great.

Another disappointment in a poor crop of new beers at this years mini-beer fest at Sydneys Australian Hotel. The Pigs Fly pale ale is passable but this "pilsener" misses the target by some distance. Piss yellow colour with a poor head. Eccentric aroma of canned pineapple and Seltzer - very medicinal with no obvious Saaz. Fizzy palate. Weak malts, low ibu for the style and that nagging Seltzer note. Problematic. Avoid. [Bottle at the Australian Beer Festival, Nov 2008]

Pigs Fly Pilsner
Sampled at the Australian Beer festival (Bottle). Arrived golden yellow with a small, frothy, white head which was average lasting. Aroma was of grainy malts with honey, faint notes of lemon citrus and some wet paper. Flavor was overly sweet and was dominated by wet paper/cardboard with stale grainy malts and a minimal bitterness. Very little to report only words that come to mind are; unpleasant, bland and cheap homebrew. Steer clear of this one, just another pale larger to add to the list.

Stubby enjoyed in the company of Sully and Highlandlad. Cloudy yellow body and very lemony in the taste. That about as many notes that I wrote about this beer, so not very impressive.
